I heard that they have a western regional division? Is this correct and does anyone have any info on it? Like days out, hometime, and avg miles? Tried to call their recruiting dept several times only to get vm. Their website states in VERY large type Experienced drivers can make up to $72,400 per year. That's a pretty bold claim. Is anyone making anything within striking distance of that? How much experience - 50 years??? LOL Thanks for any info!

I think the numbers you are looking at is from an O/O with several years of successful truck driving skill under his belt, I look at about 45K this year which isn't bad for my first full year of doing this.
Hi, Allow me to give you a little bit of insight as to what Watkins and Shepard is all about, They are very much a beginners paradise, they do have a high turn over, In fact if I had not had a little glue(family depending on me) I would ave baled out this past winter as well, The first "White Out" I got in left a stain in my shorts to put it nicely, I am from Arizona and from the part where the snow is not even close to me, I was extremely scared and I had every right to be so, I was up in Wyoming and it was about 9:30 at night and the wind was blowing but not to hard and all of a sudden without warning it was totally white all around me, I couldn't see past the end of my hood as long as a minute and a half, I gathered my thoughts and made it thru it, But had I not been able to gather my thoughts I would probably have quit right there on the spot, I didn't sleep well that night I kept having the "What Ifs" going thru my head, I had dreams of me in a wreck and I mean a bad one, One where I had control over my vehicle but there was nothing I could do about what had already happened, I think the winter driving and the lower then regular pay scale that they offer is a very good reason they have such a turn over, They do offer a "No Trainer" process, Which for me was perfect, some of these guys come thru orientation and think they are ten feet tall and bullet proof, They then get out here in there new found freedom and find they are not as tough as they thought they were, We are all here to help each other thru these little hick-ups but if they are the know-it-all type then we can't help them and more often then not they sink and don't swim, they probably go back and blame their instructors at the school where they went for their own issues.
The problem right not with you leaving a voice mail is that the recruiting department lost one of the gals that took those calls(she left the company) and until they replace that person they will be short handed and your call return may take a day or two, hang in there, I would if you have a email address send them an email, I would give you an email address to the folks in recruiting but I don't have it. I wish you well in your search but I can honestly say that this was the best fit for me, I have hit the road running and have been here for 6 months. I wish you well in your search. There is no western Regional, we Have OTR, East Coast, Local, and a few Dedicated Runs.
$72,400 mmmm maybe I donno, our top pay I beleive is only .36cpm, but stop pa does add up. And the info on the website is VERY outdated. Your best bet would be to keep trying to get ahold of Recruiting they'll give you a straight anwser they wont lie to to.

$72,400.00 divided by $0.36 / mile = 201,111 miles , have to be a lot of stop pay in that $72,400.00 because for a solo mileage would be close to impossible with todays HOS.

$20/per stop
.04cpm bonus on all miles run
Paid HUB miles ALL miles Loaded/ MT/ Bobtail
We do ALLOT of LTL so LOTS of stops, I've had runs with as many as 23 stops!
130,000 x .36cpm= $46,800
.04cpm x 130,000= $5,200
$20/per stop 15 stops/wk average for 45 of 52 weeks= $13,500
Holiday bonus= $500
Total= $66,000 so its possible, espeically if you wanna do allot of LTL runs, if you do they'll love you and will have no problem getting those runs, as you can have all my ltl runs lol
