    what do you mean local??
if you mean local as in being home every night, prob not, i usually work out of sayreville, and they laid off a lot of the local drivers.
local driver gets paid by the hour, an OTR driver gets paid by the mile,:biggrin_2551:

so im guessing its not that easy at the moment

I'd consider getting home every weekend to be kinda 'local', but I know what you mean.
Heck, that's as much as I want to see (listen to) my wife!

Soontobetrucking, I'm looking for a little info on how the teams are running at W/S. Do they run different lanes than the solo's? and trying to find out what kind of miles they are averaging? and how long do they have to stay out? TIA

hey wildbill, the good thing about running teams is that you get the good miles. teams usually get the coast to coast runs, cause they can get the freight there in 1/2 the time, we also have a lot of 3 man teams, each guy spends 2 weeks out, then he goes home for a week, and they run a cycle like that. it works really good
i would say that as a team you can expect to run somewhere around 7,000 miles a week, prob more. teams and o/o are the first ones to get the good miles. then its the solo company drivers, its just the way it works
have you talked to roxy or sandy about it? if not, you should call them and talk to them about it, every company likes teams and o/o. id call

My wife and I have run about 5000/week since Christmas, but that includes a fair amount of layover pay around the holidays and we sat in the shop for 4 days one time and a little over 2 days on another. It also includes 2 days we sat with a broken trailer waiting on roadside repair. I swear we pretripped and it was fine. Oh well.

Anyway, we're expecting to pick up to 6000/week now that our truck is in pretty good shape.

We run mostly east/west. We've been driving for about 2 months and we know I-40 very well. We've also run a more northern route through Colorado, over to Ohio and West Virginia. A few runs up I-5 to Washington and back to SFS. Our shortest dispatch (not including a run we specifically asked for to get us to a shop) was 900 miles. Most of our dispatches are 2000+ and we either have a load waiting on us when we get there, or have a load within 12 hours, even in SFS. I kind of feel sorry for the solo guys because we get to SFS and they've been sitting for 3 days and we get a load out in 12 hours or less.

With that said, the solo guys we talk to on a regular basis are getting 10,000+/month

    wildbill123 Thanks this.

do you always have the option to no lump your freight? or it required to do so, and is the place close to worth it? also if i am interested in team driving out of school or shortly after, can i put in a request to be put with another driver that is also looking for team, or do I have to find the other driver on my own?
and do both drivers have to be from the same terminal?

We do lump some of our own freight. Most of what I've done hasn't been truly unloading the trailer, but just getting it to the tail and maybe passing down to the local guys.

W/S does pay for lumpers at places that have them, although some will let you do it and W/S will pay you for it. (one of our instructors said he put what the lumper fee was and they paid him half even though that was more than what the pay scale says max pay is)

If you're interested in teaming, I know they're interested in you. I don't know if they can help you find someone or not. I had a built in partner :)
