The Cobra 1500 will do just fine. I've ran that model for years with no problems. Fridge, micro-wave, laptop, coffee pot, grill cheese maker, TV, DVD Player, and assorted accessories.....no issues. Besides, you won't be running them all at once.
I have a 1.7 cubic ft fridge. The brand doesn't really matter, as it will not last as long inside a truck, as it would in a home. Too much shaking.
I do recommend listening to the fridge while you are handling it during purchase. If you hear a metallic clanking, don't buy it. That could be a sign of weak springs and very little rubber damping at the compressor.
You'll notice some noise if you really shake one. But it shouldn't sound like a cow bell while you're putting it on the cart.
W&S will install it if you want. But it's not that difficult, if you have everything.

Awesome, thank you! Very good information. I've been looking at cobra so it looks like im going that route since so many are recommending it.
My wife asked me this morning about cleaning dishes and such. What do you guys do as far as cleaning your pots/pans dishes and such? -
I see lots of guys that "wash" dishes, with a jug of water and paper towels. Some bring them into the truckstop and wash them in the bathroom.
Personally, I go the disposable route. It's too easy, and it relatively cheap.
I get large bowls and plates. Buy utensils in the 100 lot bags. But I always keep a real knife, for cutting.
Cups and glasses. I don't even bother with. -
Thats what i figured. I told my wife i wanted to just get disposible stuff but she said thats a waste and terrible for the environment. Eh... i dont care too much. I just sold my awesome computer (i built it myself for high end gaming) so i could get a cheap laptop and inverter and other necessities.

I got a really stupid question... How do you get the fridges in the truck? Through the doors or the sleeper door? I just dont want to look dumb my first day at the yard trying to get my stuff in there
-
You're going to do just like the rest of us do. Put it in the jump seat, climb in the drivers side. And move it to the bunk area

Freightliners and Volvos at W&S have no sleeper door.EmersonSC Thanks this. -
Emerson: Use paper plates and cups. No enviornmental impact there; renewable resource too.
The little forks and spoons aren't amounting to much, and at about .01/ea. you can't beat it...but you could use your four-pound hypertactile five bladed eating utensil camping knife with the log saw and fish skinner as many times as you want.
I chuckle at the picture of my little brother with one of those in his pocket...bigger than his foot!Last edited: Mar 21, 2009

Thank you again. Like i said i didnt want to feel like an idiot trying to figure it out haha -
Another way of cleaning things is diaper wipes and paper towels. I use paper plates and bowls, and use metal utensils. Also use crock pot liners, just throw the liner away and wipe out the pot. I got my fridge at Lowes, 4.4 cuft. has a nice size freezer. My wife cooks meals and freezes them in quart size bags while Im gone. I can carry about a month's worth of food with me. Also have a coffee pot, I spend less than $10 per week while on the road. Hope this helps

Emerson, you're being naughty. They didn't like your links LOL
You can use a single door type easily. The included tray will keep things seperated. A 3.2 is going to be about the limit.
You can use the 4.4 though, there is room. But for every "extra" in size, you give up room for something else.
Igloo and Danby make a 3.1/3.2 dual compartment. But they cost a lot more than the single doors.
As for where you put it. Theyll remove part of the cabinets, usually behind the drivers seat. And it will set directly in the floor there. You may be able to request the right hand side cabinets be removed, if you would like it there. W&S is very good about reconfiguring the bunk area cabinets for the driver.
That can spoil you though. As 99% of the companies will NOT make any alterations in this area.
