You'll have the chance to get things done right away. Keep in mind, you'll be sitting and waiting while they perform these adjustments. Without pay.
I can't speak for the orientation you'll attend. They differ, depending on where you attend. Mine was about 3 hours of video and paperwork. -
Oh wow. How long ago did you start? Haha It's ten days (non paid) now. Ill be in NJ.
-
It's your experience and location......

yeaaaah yeaaah im a rookie i know

I'm still excited regardless. Something I've wanted to do since i was a kid riding OTR with my dad on my summer vacations.
Only thing that sucks now is leaving my family (wife and 2 month old daughter) but at least now I know I can finally take care of them and make sure there's a roof over their head and food on the table. -
I'm going to add in here "apple cider vinegar". Google that and you'll find 1000 uses from health and longevity to sterilizing surgical instruments to polishing. And it's CHEAP.
But remember, wash yourself with the rubbing alcohol and clean stuff with the vinegar.
You don't wanna wash up with the vinegar. -
haha i HATE the smell of vinegar so i dont think i'd make that mistake. ohhhh man i could only imagine how incredibly PO'd i'd be if i did that

Just finished a 160 hour course and passed the test for my CDL A today. On Friday I board a train from MI to MT. Why? Cuz it beats the bus any day. This way I also get to take the rental from Whitefish to Missoula via a side trip to the Going to the Sun Rd. Always wanted to see it. I just hope the weather and river conditions in Fargo don't cause any delays.

I spoke to a WS driver based here in MI who also went to the same school. He has confirmed all learned about WS in this forum. I will try to get a few posts in during the 10 day orientation that starts on Monday. While this may not be the best economy to start driving OTR I believe, based on my homework, that WS will be a very good company to start with. And who knows, perhaps for the long term. I am excited. -
Here goes...
After working closely with recruiting at Watkins Shepard over the last 3 weeks I was expecting to start orientation on Monday. No go. I received a call from the superior today saying that they are being impacted by the economy and will not be bringing me on. To say I am disappointed would be a colossal understatement.
This company has been on my radar screen since I started at training school four weeks ago. I have all my paperwork organized, medical, CDL A in hand and was looking forward to seeing western MT. "Bummer" doesn't cover it.
I have calls to make on Monday.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Maybe another door will open. And that one isn't completely closed. It may reopen in the future for you.
As a side note. I was at the Myrtle, MS terminal this week. Scarey doesn't even start to describe it. Only 2 men working the docks. And they're down to 1 local driver.
