Just talked to Roxy today. The only way they will hire me is if i moved out of state. how ever, they are in no way working with me on this. I have to get out to cali, change my address, transfer my CDL over to Cali, send them a copy of my CDL, a proof of residency, and THEN they will commit me to an orientation.

Trans Am wont hire me, and i quote:

"because you have a child and family and were worried if you dont get regional right away you will quit."

Well, realistically, why should they help you, with 300 apps a day coming in? They have their pick of the litter, for sure, so you're not being singled out; it's just logic. Also, Roxy was running the office by herself yesterday; that may or may not have a lot to do with just how much they can deal with.
I'll try to find that post I saw; someone said they were hiring dump drivers in Mich. at a good pay.

But I guess not hiring just 'anyone' out of ATL .. hehehe ... probably worked out for the best for me anyway, just still wonder why the pass ??? I think Conway is much more hardass in their hiring .. and firing .. that W/S .. go figure. I posted a pic of my truck and my dog (she's onboard now) in Scooter's thread. I'm rolling well, all things considered, and pretty content with the whole deal. I'll be in ATL in a few weeks to resolve my house issues .. foreclosure I'm sure .. and I'll shoot you a line and maybe do lunch. Keep up the fight brother!!!

Yeah, they pass by some good ones too, don't they?
I've still got your number; you need me to call or do you still have mine? We have a bit of catching up to do! Like to see the truck, meet tha dawg.
Man, sorry about the house. We've saved ours, but just barely. Now to get bills paid ahead so I can hit school and git 'er dun.

I know they have had some cut backs company wide so this also included office help in MT.

yeah, I knew, so I'm not in as much of a hurry to get to school. I'll wait on the VA check and get my bills caught up first, maybe take on a burnout job I bidded that looks like we won. That way I don't hit the road broke and it gives some time for freight to pick up.
It's just not a good time anywhere to sign on if you have something else to do.
Another thought is that with only 600 trucks, probably very few of their drivers are on this forum (I think I see 3), so we don't really know much on their situation. I may saunder up to the Dalton yard this weekend and try to talk to some of the drivers laid over there.

RedFox, i need to ask you a question, where in the heck do you get all these " facts " about watkins shepard?? i read everything you type on here, and for someone who does not drive for this company knows a whole lot of " facts " about watkins. a lot of the things you say are not actual facts. yes some things you put on here are true, but more then half of the crap is not true, i often get a good kick out of the things you say,
you have so many post, and u have not been on the rd in how many years? things have changed, a lot since u were last on the road, its great if you have kept up on things over the years, ur one step ahead of most people starting, but my god man, your putting things out here about watkins and ur not even workin here yet...yeah this site is great, its great for people to wonder around on here and get real facts about real life things that take place here, not some guy that might work here.
and thier are more then 3 drivers that post here, i no at least 8 or 9 that i have met in person, not to mention all the real watkin shepard drivers that post actual facts on here. you give me a sour taste. I usually enjoy meeting the folks that post on here, and your one person id rather not meet. you come off as someone that is a Mr. Know-It-All, so if i have i offended you in anyway...oh well fox.
Anyway, best of luck to you

Hmmm, didn't know I came off that way, and I apologize if I did. I get along with Roxy and we've had a lot of really long conversations; which is where I got most of my information. I'm also the type to really study anything I venture into, and being out of work for the most part since last Nov. I've had a lot of time to look into things.
If there are more here than the few I've seen that are from WS, I hadn't seen them post that.
The first thing I researched looking for comanies was driver complaints. I found extremely few with WS, which is why I got so interested in that one company. Also, the bigger the company, it seems to be a ratio for worse treatment in general.
I guess you won't have to worry about running into bad ol' me, because Matt called me yesterday and let me know they were not going to be putting anyone else on for a while, since no drivers are quitting anymore.
If this is a 'fact', then fine, if not, it's what I was told. It just supports the assumption that it's a good company to work for. And I've no reason to disbelieve anything Roxy told me even though she's a recruiter.
    I guess I can't make everyone happy.

Yes, I've been off the road for years. Not much seems to have changed in a way, save for electronics and governors. It seems like yesterday. If I've posted any untruths, you have the right and my request to correct me. I'm not trying to mislead anyone.

well redfox, sorry u didnt make it on here, its a great company, as you are well aware of the fact. i ment no harm on things i said, but someone who is not a driver for a company should not be posting anything about the company other then whats taking place as far as you getting hired on, like i said, some of the things that you said were not true, but some things were, you always said roxy this and roxy that, i call roxy about this and about that, she would agree and disagree with things you were saying, watkins shpeard is getting so many applications from driver that roxy and the others have got no reason to bs anyone about anything at this presnt time, cause much like most companies they can pick and choose who they want, im sure they want someone like you, but sadly they opted not to for some reason,
for the next company you consider, try not posting like you are already employed at that place.
many companies are still takin on new drivers, keep ur head up high, and best of luck to you, hope to see your postings on you next company.
