Evidently a prehire is dependent on more than just qualifications, and as I found out today, my VA loan was dependent on the prehire. (I'm not going to lie to them) I can still do other apps, and may soon try to get one from several other companies I'd consider. I have some construction work going now anyway, and maybe freight will pick up by the time I finish these projects. I'm still gettin my bulldog jaws off the bite in this direction, and at least I got the physical stuff done and a DOT card.
I really thought I was heading for school next month. I hate change; I'm a creature of habit. But I bounce pretty good.

Didnt really see anything wrong at all with what you've posted Red. Sorry people are jumping on you. Summer is around the corner and construction should be picking up to keep you busy for a few months hopefully. Keep in touch with W/S and get your foot back in the door after a few quit the OTR lifestyle. Best of Luck bud.

Several PM's and a phone call to me. Seems that others and I can't figure out what I said wrong either, but I guess it's not important. Personally, I probably DO have somewhat of a knowitall attitude, but ten years driving, 3 in the Coast Guard, a few years mechanicking, and 19 in construction with my own business made me a bit ####y.
Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees, so I take any criticism to heart, even one guy.
Thanks for the Kudo's...I still plan to drive because construction has always been boom to bust with no future in it, even as a president, and now a supervisor. It's just week to week paychecks that disappear between jobs, so it's like you're always on your last job, always starting out, always seem to be in debt. At least with steady money you can build credit.

    Tran Man Thanks this.

I can sort of see that Red Fox's posts may seem unorthodox for someone who is not currently trucking and is still in the middle of trying to get into the hiring process. However, I find it hilarious that S2B got his hackles up about not being the resident W/S expert. S2B has been trotting around this board like a tom turkey with it's first erection ever since he hauled his 3rd load of freight. Classic case of the truck driver who knows everything and just needs someone to tell it to. It's the reason I always got my meals take-out and ate in the peaceful quiet of the truck rather than sit in a TS listening to know-it-alls try to outdo each other's stories.

Maybe S2B was having a bad day and Red was just in the line of fire, not sure. I've read alot of Reds post and like me he seems to add insight to a thread.Does"nt come off as a no it all or look at me kind of guy. Just someone who has done alot of research on W/S and then had the rug pulled out from under him at the last minute.I dont think it was intentional, but just the way the economy is right now.

The know-it-all reference was directed at S2B, not Red Fox.

Yet your only post within this forum, is to down play any positive comment about W&S. You since moved to another company. Yet you've created no thread, good or bad about that other company. Nor have you commented on any other thread within this forum....to date.

    Your W&S Experience:
    My Experience:

I spent a total of 210 days on the road last year. And made right at $48k An old pay stub is included within this forum, that reflects the amounts I was making.

As far as working your butt off. I don't know many people who done 3000 mile drop and hooks, myself included. I averaged 8-12 drops per week, 80+% were driver assist.

I've since left W&S. But I bear them no gudges. And I find your personal experience rather confusing. Especially since I know the money was there to be made.

10 years experience rate of pay at another company ??? That's not a big leap, for those of us who know what that number is.

    JB Hunt pays even more.

Red, Watkins Shepard didn't work out for either of us this year. I am going to get my time in elsewhere and will certainly consider them for future employment. Keep that chin up!

Oh yeah. I don't know, but hope to assume if you will, that they aren't filling up trucks with drivers, but rather keeping drivers they have busy with loads they do have. As long as I have a few projects going, I'll take my time getting out there, and watch for the freight picking up, but with construction it's ALWAYS boom to bust, so the hammer will drop eventually.
In the meantime, I'm collecting things. Just got offered a Blackberry for free...bought an antenna mount for my Wilson...such as that. Need to find a recent Atlas...mine says 1986 on the cover...might be a bit dated...
