not here to bash but to give insight take it as you wish.
57 days out west and have not been home, no kids no rent sounds good.
But, People do this for family and bills; I would rather run regional in the east making slooppy miles then do regional in the west for a month in a half just to feel what i pay for and a wife that supports me even when sometimes I'm traveling for free. Can't get a load for 5 days in no mans land and ya'll say hes not working hard enough, go to florida and tell that same thing to a driver trying to come out of there; you might just be eating soup for the next month. I stay on the east coast and if I mean "IF" they send me out west I'll go no complaint the first time the second time just make sure I'm close to Sayreville cause thats the end of conversation. Their not symphatetic to anyne once you get out there, sitting in sante fe for what I been there done that If I could do regional out west I can do it east. Yet, you have to wait for teams, o/o to get them first then you get sante fe to phx and back for a trailer that needs to be fixed. " OKAY" over the road is for who ever likes it but when you have a family bills and life outside of just sitting behind a wheel all day
wks is not for you. If you have no bills," CELL PHONES" don't count, live with moms just go home to change clothes have little privacy and like looking at terminals and truck stops and lot lizards go out west wksh would love you its that simple. I like to atleast see my wife every so often, not cabbage twice a weeek.
I hope that was honest enough for you all from my eyes I can't speak for no one else just me any problems bring it or pm ME.
WHSK TELL YOU LONGHAUL or WEST COAST REGIONAL when you called.![]()

I thought we agreed the sitting for 5 days was a lack of communication. And everyone knows it's hard to get out of FL.Iguess the soup thing meant a punch in the mouth.LOL But u have to realize times are tough and u might have to run a little different till things change. If W/S can count on u,then u will get the miles.

Naw'lins..maybe your not cut out to be a truck driver. It is a roller coaster ride day in and day out. Thats the facts. It always has been and always will be that way. Its more than a job, it is truly a lifestyle, most people who do this job do it because they love it...not to get rich. Sure you are going to have bad weeks or even bad months, but look around the economy sucks right now, just be thankful you have a job at all. On the other hand, it takes a couple of years to learn all the tricks of the trade out here, you cant just get in a truck and expect to run big miles every month. I have been doing this on and off for several years, and learn something new every week, things that help me make better decisions and eventually more miles/money.
sal Thanks this. -
Im sorry but if your sitting for 5 days with out a load, its YOUR fault.
It cracks me up that guys are pointing out 50-60 days on the road when they signed up to be OTR drivers.
The truck has a condo sleeper, what did you expect?
People are losing everything they have due to unemployment, yet we have emplyed guys whining.
I know its tough out here but if you cant hang dont whine, Leave.
Plenty of eager new drivers ready to Take your place.
Soon2be, I know I give you a hard time, But I hope you made it home ok, I know this visit was important to you.
The miles are out there but you have to work for them just Like soon2be is.
When I was in Missoula getting fuel Thursday, I was pulled aside and asked to make sure my logs were 100%. (always get my safety bonus)
Seems to be im at the company maximum for mileage per week.
My monthly miles are comparable to most of our teams.
So this month im going to back off on the miles a little.
This weekend Im spending some time in St. Cloud Minnesota with a friend and Next weekend im spending the weekend in Austin Texas. -
I have been running the new electronic logs for a couple of months now, and am getting 10-12K miles per month...all legal. so it can be done
sal Thanks this. -
yes, made it home ok, missed my ride home friday night, but still made to where i had to be on sat morning, close call, kh2 had some loads that needed to be covered thursday and friday and she had only 2 more drivers over here to try and get them covered. seems that when i get back out this week ill be stuck on the east coast for a while, which is ok with me for now, i talked to some guys that were doing the east coast stuff, they said they averg about 2200 a week plus drop pay, so with 30 stops do the math and ur not to worried about the 800 miles you didnt get out, it still works out.
i agree with you, be glad you have a job at all today, you could be sitting at home job searching day in and day out,
communicating is huge here at w.s call, qc email everyone that you need to, till you get where/what you need,
be nice, dispacth " owns " you. they can make or brake u, and do what they ask, like said above already, you help them, they will take care of you. -
Naw'lins Born stated that was not his case. He's single. But it doesn't make matters any better for the married guy who gets cuaght in a bad area.
And like you, I often ran at the fringe of miles vs. log book entries. But not everyone within W&S does. And you know this.
I'm not bad mouthing W&S at all. I happen to be one of their biggest advocates within this forum, even though I no longer work for them. But you can't paint every W&S driver with the same brush. Some do much better than others, and I'm not completely sure why. Although I suspect it has much to do with regional (western) and home time. I know I done great, and was often questioned if I was an ### kisser. But I'm sure there are many there that would refute that claim LOL. -
Wasnt pointing out Soon2be, so please dont make it out to be more than it is Danc
Used the time frame for an example, seen a few guys leave this spring because of 5-8 weeks out when they want home in 3.
