I do not remember squatting for any length of time. Here is what I remember:
They got a wooden box that already weighs 20lbs and they put weights into it depending on the task. Sorry but I don't remember what weight for what task, but the most I had to lift was 70. You gotta lift that box up and place it on a shelf that is about waist high and back down again 3 times, I believe that is the part that had the 70 in it. They then take some weight out and you gotta put that box on a shelf that about head high, 3 times. I think I had to squat up and down a few times, but I don't remember it so I seriously doubt that I had to hold the position or I would have probably remembered. You gotta push and pull a sled about 20 feet that is loaded with weight. You gotta crawl back and forth about 15 feet. They have you twist your body back and forth, squeeze some contaption that measures grip strength, touch your toes, thats all I can remember for the performance test. For the DOT medical you gotta basically pass a sobriety test by walking a straight line one foot in front of the other, stand on one foot and touch your nose. You gotta read and eye chart, identify some colors, and repeat some numbers that they whisper while standing behind ya. I don't know how many times they will measure your blood pressure, they only took mine once and it was fine.
If your biggest concern is the squatting, I wouldn't worry too much, like I said I would have remembered squatting for 3 minutes, so I think it is just an up and down thing. The hardest thing was moving that 70lb box around and even that was pretty easy. Heck the guy giving me the test was only about 5'5" and 130lbs soaking wet, and he was able to do it all just fine while giving me the demonstration.

It was a long day at the testing center. 6 hours worth. They had three doctors on duty and three emergencys
I was a fill in I think
The testing lifting and such was rather easy.
No squat for three minutes, only squat down, touch fingers to carpet 10 times.
The hardest part was standing on one foot. I always could do better if I had been drinking.
The other part (Physical) because of the interuptions took forever but I walked out with my DOT Cert and now one step closer to school.
DMV next Wed for permit test.
School Loan Approval.
Then I can count my chickens.

congrats, the part you worried about most is over and it sounds like your ticket is almost officially punched. Booked my plane ticket last week instead of the bus. While I do enjoy driving long distances and prefer it to flying, the thought of being stuck on a greyhound and drawing the short straw and getting a screaming kid near me for 20+ hours is not a risk I wanna take. And yeah, that standing on one foot is for gymnasts, I was wobbly myself. Man it feels so good to be on the last two weeks of a job I don't like and looking forward to a new challenge. Trucking sure does have its share of positives and negatives and I am going in with realistic expectations, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Looking at the Grayhound Schedule from Vegas is a 24 hour trip with 17 stops. I always got the kid behind me on the airplane that would kick my seat. After two warnings I invited his Dad out into the isle. Can't say step outside.
After the DOT I treated my wife to Memphis Championship BBQ place and then tried to find the W/S Terminal. I had MapQuest directions but they were tearing up the road for over a mile where my turn was suppose to be and no street signs so I didn't know where to turn. Vegas will be my Home Terminal I guess and I was planning to drive there and leave my old 93 Nissan PU so I have transportation while in town. My parents are both Interned there. And I have a very old aunt in a rest home still there.
Getting excited now and can almost believe I will be a trucker someday soon.
Wonder what happened to our Troops who went down south to deliver loads.
I hope to keep this list more updated when I take my training but maybe we be too busy for that also.

ya thats some good BBQ! I'm pretty lucky I live about 3 miles from the terminal. It doesn't seem to be a real big terminal and finding it is tricky if your not familiar with the area.

Lucky You. Memphis BBQ will be one of my stops when I come thru.
You said you are flying from Vegas. What was the lowest fair and what airlines did you find? Guess W/S will pay as much as the Buss cost. Still don't know if leaving my Truck there is a good idea or not. Home time with the truck would be best but the office says no taking truck home and half the drivers I have heard take the truck home.
And I am told that after you get your truck they route you thru home so you can load it up.

From Detroit: 46 hours, 37 stops, and 4 transfers.
Just might spend the cash and get a flight instead.
BTY, go for my physical/agility testing Monday. -

......... YEAH I'm choosing to fly, No way Greyhound for a day or more with a bunch of freaks like myself.
See you on the 26th..... Oh I might show up a couple days early the air fair is alot cheaper.
-
Just checking online prices, looks like Sunday flights are big money (gouging the Thanksgiving crowd going home), Saturday flights are fairly reasonable, Friday flights a bit cheaper. I might be getting in early too.
-
Hey Kane.... Yeah Thur/ fri & sat are around $149, ( from Sacramento ) sun is about $560. I'll get a room in Missoula for a night or two. Before I ride a Greyhound that long, or pay $560. Can most likely stay at the school anyway.
