I think it's just you
I've noticed a lot of people (experienced or not) getting excited about a job lately
BTW, Myrtle will have freight Monday. I'm taking them a load![]()

For a while there, McDONALD'S was looking good.

You should feel fortunate indeed then.
Based on what I'm reading about "miles" within this forum. W&S drivers are getting more miles a week, than drivers of other major OTR companies. How the hell some of these other guys with bills are making it on 1800 miles a week, is beyond me. -
im heading to frezznooooo cali, when i get there it will put me at 4,7xx miles since the 3rd

vacation is over back to the real world.
I drove from miami to orlando 220 and back again saw maybe 20 trucks in all, and only 2 major carriers stevens trans , roehl.
most were reefers I really don't know how u can drive trucks and live in fl. while I'm not suprised I just think its sad. -
Keep yer paid tourist job LOL
I've become rather fond of my own bed, and the miles that come with it

This is rednek's wife lol he left yesterday at 11... yeh he is super excited he hasn't worked in 8 months and he is a work a holic needless to say its been fun around here lmao. The economy took a #### and his company that he built from day one merged and they wanted to "train" him to get his own store (even though he had one) and then had to cut 5000 a month from budget (which he did not even come close to making) turns out they just wanted to get rid of everyone that opened the store because they were not part of the new company... anyways he applied everywhere including mcdonalds and there was just no work so 7 months later he decided to get his cdl and he did so now he's off to do what he feels qualifies him as a man.. provide... I'm just wondering how your families do it because not seeing him but 3 days every week weeks or so doesn't sound worth it to me.. but I am not a man and I not a work a holic either lol... can he even really make the money for this to be worth it in the economy? Don't get me wrong I am behind and I am very proud but its been one day and I miss him so much...

You'll get used to him being gone. It takes time. And it's not easy. Use the ladies forum for support.
He can make money. But like anything else, it is down at this time. Being new, it will be a slow process. But once he gets a grasp of how things are, he can knock down some change.
Even if he is a workaholic, you'll notice an increase in his stress level. Learn to take it with a grain of salt, as none of it is directed at you. But you'll hear it on the phone almost daily. -
dance, ill have to disagree with you on the slow part, 3 new drivers that i no slammed 10,000 miles their very first month, and was talking to a driver yesterday who seen his old truck and talked to the driver and he was a brand new driver and himself got 10,000 miles his first month, so that makes for newbs with 10k each.
also, ms rednek, becoming a truck driver is a huge mountain for many new drivers that have not looked at the realistic side of being a truck driver, most, and i mean just about most new drivers, weather here at w.s or swift or any other company, get the idea they will be home very often, tho this may be true for many drivers, but the real life truth is that they are not home as often as they/you may want them to be, as they gain time with the company and get a feel for the company, disp, and the routs he can/will/should get home more often.
one thing your husband needs to do first and formost is prove to w.s he is ready to do what they ask, and not turn down any loads, none at all, unless absolutly needed. proving himself will give him the advantage he needs to work with the disp. people, excepting every load and delivering on time are 2 major keys here, and at all other companies, but if he proves himself they usually help him out when he asks for a favor. weather its getting home, or going to see family in ga, i wish you the best of luck on dealing with his stress level via the phone, and just remember that he/all drivers need the support from home to encourage him and it will make things easier for him, truck driving is a stressful job, and he will vent on you cause being new and not knowing other drivers to vent with, you the next best thing for him.
any kids at home?? if so, how old?
also, tell him to be in the look out for me, cause he is buying me lunch!!! ill let him cut in front of Dance and Nawlins
i also expect updates on mr rednek via you since the company computer wont allow him access to this site.
good luck to both of you. -
But you forget. I'm old school. Where 14k a month was expected for a lazy OTR driver. No use being gone for 30 days, and not getting $5k bring home for your efforts.
10,000 miles a month is chicken feed. Or at the very least, a local/regional job.
I get 10k plus a month. And I'm home every weekend. Sometimes every night
And yes I took a cut in pay. But my otr expenses have been cut by 75%. Fair trade....for an old guy
