ok ok ok dance, look at my age, 23, im like a quarter your age...:biggrin_2554:
and ur right, 10,000 may be chicken feed, but ask drivers from these companies how many miles a month these drivers are getting monthly? you said it your self dance,

and mrs rednek, look at dance for example, been driving a truck since the begining of time and look how many miles hes getting and how often he is home, most of us would call him a lucky sob, but most everyone try hard for what dance has, but without the experience, and fail,
dance has been in the game a long time, something like 100+ years now i think he told me? i forget he looked " strssed out " when i seen him :biggrin_25525:

and then u have other like myself, i turned down a local job about 2 months ago that was offered to me, not anything i went looking for, i turned it down cause i couldnt get enought of the open/jammed highways,
and cause i was gonna team, but someone let me down, but anyway,
another reason was because this company hadnt given me any reason to leave, so, i didnt :)

Yeh he most definitely would not turn down a load he would rather deal with me angry (not pretty) than not work lol. Plus I already told him if he has to be out longer it may just be better because its home a couple days longer and it would be easier on the kids. He started without me haha so he has a 4 year old girl. And then together we have logan turns 2 on the 23rd and andon turns 1 on the 21st of august. He turns 25 on Tuesday actually lol so you have to wish him a happy birthday.. this is his mindset.. not oh no I won't be with my family for my birthday no its I leave sat what an awesome birthday present lmfao he is ready to work and because its been so long he takes this more seriously then ever and he will do great I just know it. He is very good at doing what he is supposed to as far as work and he is so greatful for the opportunity he won't say no to anything lol. Yeh make him buy you lunch he needs a friend haha and no I am expecting him to be gone a lot and I am trying to start school soon I will be too busy with that and the boys to get upset about it I suppose :) thank you all for your honestly lol oh and sorry about your team thing I know nate wants to do teams eventually I guess too its all about finding the right person though.

s2b is defenitely the last one to talk to anyone wife wife about otr life the dude lives at home with no bills.
your husband will travel for free his first year regardless just be prepaired to have patience and help him thru it.
S2b thinks everyone comes out of training and goes straight to shortline what a joke. No sb you werre the only one I did my time otr for like six months until I was switched to otr check this thread.
second sb how can u tell someone new what to look forward to when u never drove for 27 cents a mile in your driving life . bettter yet 26 cent per mile now, opps my bad.
Don't listen to this guy he has been breast fed every since he got hire never in a real otr driver shoes till after his cpm was above 30. He is clueless live at home with moms and pay just for cellphone service the american dream.
While on the other hand he speaks for drivers with family, real bills, like car insurance, water, gas,and walk around your house naked rent.
When he can say you can make like that and has done it then he can recruit someone elses family and give the info instead of false dteams.

What does travel for free mean? And also.. how does the home time work? Does he take a load here or get bussed or what? And I didn't read all 137 pages lol so I don't really know the beef but my husband is 25 in a couple days and we really have the bills and whatnot haha our tahoe is about to be repossessed so I need him to be making money not only to be worth him being gone but also to get caught up on the damage of the last 8 months... we are in a one bedroom which was originally 5 of us living in and we desperately want a house and the only way to do that is get our debt paid we refuse to file for bankruptcy and need a lot of money in a fairly decent amount of time.. if he is only gonna cover our bills id rather him come home but this is his dream not mine ya know.

travel for free means 27 cents a mile with your miles being dictated by clueless dispatchers and traffic.
sum it up your husband will not make any money his first year. I ate peanut butterand jelly sandwiches to get by. maam your husband will be taking care of two houses now that he is otr. and that can take away from yours sometimes, hee has to be comfortable to make money . hometime works like this for every 6 days out on the road you get 1 day home; so, every 18 days is 3 days home.
But that is not garunteed hometime is but not when u get it.

Does W/S run NYC? And if yes, can you turn down an NYC load? I imagine that they won't stick a noob under a load and say "Head to Brooklyn" but one never knows...

And on a side note do they run in Canada?

(I apologize if this has been asked before, but there are 137 pages, and I honestly don't feel like reading ALL of them to find this out)

The answer to all your questions, is yes. With limitations of course.

NYC isn't run that often. It could be 6 months to a year before you see an NYC load, if ever.

Yes, you could refuse the load. Not recommended though.

They run Canada, but they use a select core of drivers for those runs. As most runs are across the NW area. It's doubtful you will be asked to go there at all.

Thanks danc...I'm just out of my first week of Sage CDL schooling in NC and was trying to do research on various companies. We're doing the whole application process tomorrow and I'm just trying to get a good idea of where the companies that I'm looking at are gonna run. Right now I'm pretty much hoping for W/S or KLLM out of school.

ms. redneck, nawlins is a prime example of someone who never wanted to go OTR in the first place, and he is right is so many ways, otr is not for everyone, and the best way to find out is by doing it, he'll start at .28 or .29 cpm, not .27, he picked a good company to start off with, he could have went to a " bottom feefer " and they are really bad companies to work for.
nawlins is right, i do live at home, no monthly home payment to make, but iv got my fare share of bills to pay, they may not be for supporting a child or making sure the bank dont take my house, all my bills are for toys, and iv got many of them, i prob have more monthly bills then most home owner with a herd of children, more then i should have, so yeah i do know what its like to have bills my friend. sorry i dont bring my home life into my work life, as most people do,
its 6 days out and one day at home, and your right, the more days he's out the more days he is at home.

    nawlins, u really quit today?
