The only two large trucking companies that I know of that are based in AZ are Swift and Knight. Swift will train you and Knight requires 4 months OTR. I wouldn't go to Swift over W/S. Good luck what ever you decide.

Oh Well. I wouldn't go with either of them. I have not looked at every company that is out there. Lets hope I don't have to resort to that anyway. W/S has some money in me already and I would rather go with them over anybody else I have looked at that would take me.
As long as they have a good record, happy drivers, Pet and Rider Policy, Golf Policy and allow me to take off anyday I want I will be happy. And a front bumper mount for my harley.

I don't think that the demands that you are making such as a Golf Policy and allowing you to take off any day you want is going to work with any trucking company. W/S is going to expect you to drive at least 10,000 miles a month when you are starting and then increase to 12,000 with more experience and if you don't perform you will be gone. They will keep you running and you will probably see home a few days a month. I don't know when you would fit golf in when on the road. If you want the luxuries you have stated you better buy your own truck.

Oh Gee I forgot the smiley face
Sorry you thought I was serious.
But I am thinking of what hobbys I can do with my hours off away from home. You know there is a limit that you can drive a day and or a week, Getting them 32 hr resets and I will not drive out of my hours for anybody.
Are you coming to this next class?
I plan to buy my own truck if I still like the driving after two years and get my own Authority. Take loads off the many load boards.
You need to follow Steve's life on Class A forum, really interesting.
I already know how to run a business and go broke. Example my Home Brew Supply Store back in 94/95. 40,000 in inventory, started a brewing club that is still going strong, gave brewing lessons, had free brewing in my store twice a month for thoses who signed up, Had home brew beer on tap at all times. Really a fun business and blew it all before retireing the second time. I also have a Brew Pub online now but the only thing I sell on that web site are T-Shirts, Cups and Mugs. I have over 100 web pages up but getting tired of it all and want something different.
Although I am building up a new web site just to show companys that Descriminate against older people trying to get employment. I have about 10 companys right now that will get good exposure. 4 are trucking companys.

Well I had my worst experience at a DMV ever. I still need to get a CDL permit before I show up for school. I went yesterday to Woodland Ca, for the test and what a joke. There were people talking loud on cell's , kids running , crying, playing, yelling and the loud speaker calling numbers. I was lucky I got my name spelt right, plus I had to take a class C test which I didn't expect or study for. Anyway I did pass the Gen knowledge and the Air brakes, miss the combination by one and the class C by one. I'm taking ere plugs and a wrist rocket this time.
I can't remember the last time i had to take a DL test , I do believe you and everyone else had to be quite though. I hope and bet Mt's MVD is much better than this Rude ### place.
So how's everyone else doing ????

I feel your pain. My DMV experience may have been a little worse. I took mine a few weeks back before I knew that I had to take a CDL test for the permit. Nothing on the DMV's website said anything about taking one so it was unexpected. Mine was three parts also and I hadn't even read page 1 of the CDL handbook or ever driven a big rig and I still passed 2 out of 3 tests. I had to come back the next day for the airbrake test. I came back the next day and they were closed for some made up "Nevada Day" holiday. I came back the next day and they said I needed my DOT Medical card to get the permit, again something not stated anywhere on their website or handbook. So 4th time's a charm. Finally got everything squared away the 4th time but had took the worst picture ever cause the jerk was too impatient and snapped one right away. Well its only the training ID so screw it. But yeah, DMV is one of the last places on the planet I ever want to be. The people who work there are friggin miserable and I can see why. Well I imagine a little city like Missoula will be a lot smoother, but who knows.

Kingman AZ DMV or MDV was full of people when I walked in but I was in the wrong place. They do all the CDL Testing in a big trailer north of them 75 ft.
Nice set up and the nicest people I have ever delt with.
Touch Screen and you cam put ear phones on and this sweet voice reads the questions.
I missed 8 questions out of 95 on the three tests
Gen, Combo and Air Brakes.
Couple tricky questions I though.
But the CDL Permit is in my pocket.
Now W/S The Ball is In Your Court.

Hey Ark, it's not an age thing, I just had to do the credit thing too. Gwen told me there's been a lot of defaults on the loans lately, and the company is trying to tighten things up a bit so they don't have so many problems. We just got to be the lucky one's, and are the first to go thru the new process.
And, update on my progress:
Went Monday for the DOT and HPE. Passed it all no problem.
Went today to get my CDL TIP. Did general, combo, airbrake, tanker, and doubles. Passed all on first try.
Now if only the US postal service will get those loan papers delivered to Missoula, I'm in. (know it will go thru, I have good credit)
And it better go thru, I bought a non-refundable plane ticket yesterday.

What days are you guys flying in on ?? My ticket is for the 23rd. I've been told there are some casinos up there. Might give me something to do on Saturday.
-
My flight lands on Friday, 6:30 PM Missoula time. Sunday flights were way to much $$$, and Saturday flights still a bit pricy, so Friday it is.
