Well, from time to time we all end up turning down streets we shouldn't be on. I followed some bad directions--from another W/S driver--to a local pickup near Dalton and ended up on the wrong country road. I saw an intersection with a gas station on the corner and it looked to me like I could make a left at the intersection and then another left into the gas station parking lot and get turned around and headed back the way I came. Well, the telephone pole and ditch on the side of that little side street wouldn't allow me to turn, which I discovered once I was already turning. Oh, boy. So I back up out into the street and figure I'll just head down that side street and figure out a Plan B. Wrong. Two hundred yards ahead is a weight-restricted bridge and one hundred yards behind me is a line of cars I'm holding up because it's rush hour in this little town. After a while the street cleared up and I came up with a plan to sort of make a reverse button hook, backing offset into the gas station and around the telephone pole, then continuing the arc out into the original road I had come in on, facing the way that I now needed to go. Somehow, traffic cooperated with me and within a few minutes I was out of that mess and back on track. Just another day in the life. These things happen, and you just have to keep your cool. Best lesson I ever learned in life is don't panic.

Well lucky for me there were no bridges and was able to go down the streets about a 1/2 mile to the shipper, so that was good. You said it right Henley, just don't lose your cool and think about your next steps. I learned a valuable lesson that day lol

Ya man, I already turn it off. As soon as I grab a gear coming on the offramp, radio goes off and CB off. I've sweat a little out there, but you've gotta keep your cool or shtuff can go bad, QUICK. But once it's done, I like the adrenaline rush after affects and the pride and relief that comes with successfully mastering, (or barely getting thru in my case) those situations. Im no pro like you yet!

I saw 1776 in Dunnigan last night around 7 pm. I was going to stop
however, you were on the phone and had your laptop going. It sounds
    like all is going good.

    Wingrider,
I noticed your from Salem OR. Have you taken hwy 58 between 5 and 97? I'm looking for a way around Mt Ashland in the winter. I checked it out on google maps and it looks like the miles are exactly the same. Any feedback you can give would be great.
