Thanks for the restaurant tips Hop....Always good to know where the 'eats' are good.
I'm a 10-day'er and will be there on the 2nd as well, I look forward to meeting everyone.
Does anyone know exactly how the 10-day program works? I've heard a couple conflicting things about. One person told me I'd be in either the dorm or hotel all 10-days and recruiting told me I'd be there for a day or two then out on the road with a driver...Doesn't really matter to me which I do but would like to know what to expect.
Any insight into the 10-day deal is appreciated.
Thanks! -
Change of plans, we will be staying at the dorms
yea!!

Yeah thats weird, I don't know if they are doing things different this time around, but most of the 10 dayers stay at the hotel and the 30 dayers get moved into the dorms with a big class.
I did have a roommate who was a 10 dayer and he was in the room every night, so unless they are changing things I think there was some miscommunication on one end or the other with that info about being OTR with a trainer. -
lol, hold that thought

.... i'd have gladly paid a bit extra to avoid staying at the dorms -
One more thing and its important. Your most critical practice time will come the first two weeks. With a large class if you don't find unconvential hours in which to practice, you will spend a lot of time waiting your turn. I got into the routine of waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning and practicing for a few hours. An hour of practice at 4 in the morning is equal to about five hours of practice time in the evening or weekend. At 4am you will not find a lot of drivers runnning around the yard or other students taking up space and waiting their turn. At the normal hours you will spend a lot of time waiting on other students and regular drivers who have work to do. Now I know getting up that early is probably not for most people, but if anyone takes me up on that tip, you will not be sorry, as that practice time really shows when your in the hot seat and not grinding gears.
Also, 10 dayers, you will want to come with an open mind. Most of the 10 dayers that went to another school quickly found out that their school didn't teach them as much as they thought it did and learned a lot of additional stuff at WASHU (our term of endearment for the WS school).
Good luck and keep us posted. -
Yep!! Change of plans for me too, looks like Im staying at the Dorm now too....see ya then.

Gotcha. yeah I talked to Roxy today and she said I'd be staying at the Hotel. Apparently I'll be doing paperwork and such the first day but will then be out driving everyday after that. She said I may do one overnight in the truck but she wasn't 100% sure on that. But for the most part I'll be in the Hotel everynight.

Good to know. I'm a 10-day'er but come in with a bit more than just out of school, but still always looking to learn something new...
