CDL is in my pocket ready to start with W/W on June 1st. Anyone else on the board starting then? Roxy said it was going to be a pretty big class.

Well Well well I got my results back on the test we took last night and I aced it and we took one tonight and aced it, CAGE How long did you say your training was? You been there a short time and they test you out? WOW, I think W/S Requires a certain amount of time at the school like 120 Hours or something like that. I'm glad I'm getting the training I am, I don't just want my CDL I want to know what to do in certain situations. Take Care Be Safe. TD.

TD I got 160 hours in 4 weeks the time went by fast, any longer and I would have gone crazy. I can tell you this, my trainer has worked with most of the trainers at GCC and she said your trainer is good. She said she was supervisor for most of them at another company and she just does not like the Community College schedule. She has been in trucking 19 years and training for 8 or 9, I personally think it would be hard to find a better trainer. She is also a 3rd party tester licensed by the state she is great.
I am glad I did what I did and not the CC route I almost changed. It was worth the $3500 bucks to be done in 4 weeks. You will see once you are in farther and driving, it is really not that difficult, you will be ready before you know it and then you wont be able to wait for class to end so you can test.
Good Luck, you should start a thread in the school one about your experience would be nice to keep up with you. Maybe I will see you at Watkins I am sticking with them.Last edited: May 21, 2010

Congrats on the CDL dude!! Awesome...
If you're starting in Missoula on the first, it's always possible that I'll get to meet you in person if I happen to get thru there...I'm trying to get a load there so I can get the truck to the shop and have them look at the crappy automatic transmission...my local shop said the main shop guy said to have me bring it there for them to look at. I suppose if they can't fix it, there is a Volvo dealer down the road from the Missoula terminal...
You'll enjoy your time there, I know I did. Just make sure you use the student trucks at night to practice, practice, practice....
So, I'm finally almost home. Got a load out of Dalton, GA to Socal to deliver on Monday. I'll get there tomorrow (Saturday), so I get a couple of extra days home in addition to the 3 or 4 days of hometime I'm taking.
In Winslow, AZ at the "J" in case anybody makes it by here this evening.. -
Kabar on the forum here whom I have been PMing with sent me a nice PM tonight calling BS and W/S is lying about going solo after 10 day orientation. Warpdrv, Deserted1, Lynchmob or soon2be wanna chime in and educate them. Also just changed my info on the board here from STUDENT to 0-1 Year

CAGE, I have it copied from my paperwork from W/S Because once I finish my training that is where I'm going.
"We DO NOT use a Driver-Trainer system. Start working at full driver wages right out of school without any of the potential hassles that come with being locked in a small space 24/7 driving with a stranger." It can't be any easierr then that, he may be saying he can't start right out without a trainer now that he needs to figure out himself, But W/S After your orientation you are GONZO!! In Your own Truck. I hope this clears it up. -
Nice work TD, so how does it feel to have your 1st week down? I hope it went well. Next week is going to be slow since I am anticipating being in Missoula on June 1st for the 10 day and then hit the road. A friend from church owns a sod farm and is going to let me do a couple runs for him next week to keep up on driving.

1 Down 3 to go, in the classroom, Then I go on the range for 4 weeks it is 2 students to one instructor. I'm the "Ace" in the class I think from a few factors one being I have been reading here for several months and the advise here is to study the book, the other is I have a mechanical back ground where I studied diesel mechanics. There is a guy in my class that I don't think he is going to cut it, on a test tonight with 25 questions about Air Brakes he missed 9 I am not sure what the deal is but he is one of these know it alls, He drove back in the 80's and didn't renew or upgrade... That is cool that he is going to let you run a few loads for him, Kabar if you have any more questions feel free to email me I will send you all of the PDF's I have received from them. Thanks. TD. -
I will call the recruiter on Monday, but I still think it is B/S. If not then I will make sure to give there trucks lots of room. And I will be calling it to the attention of FMCSA. There's no way they can say this is a safe practice or that there rookies are ready to go out on there own after a week of training at there terminal. And people think Swift is bad

Dude, Where did you get your CDL? How long did you train? I know I know You are a "SUPER TRUCKER" and were born with the keys in your hands right?
Once I am trained and have my CDL in my hand why can't I take a truck "ON MY OWN" I've tested out to prove that I know how to do everything to start and stop the truck just like you do, No I may not be able to shift, Talk on the phone, and chew gum and flip your neighbor off, going around a right turn like you do but that will come in time, Well most of that, See we are learning the safe and right way to drive a truck not the way some Super Trainer wants us to drive a truck. I have seen you in other threads stirring the pot so to speak I think that is what you are doing here. Take Care. TD.
