When I was getting back into the industry W/S was one of the companies that I looked at hard and, would be working there if I hadn't found a more localized deal.

I read this thread and spent some time talking to Sandy and Roxy and, like everybody else on the thread found out how the 10 day worked.

But, what's been fun is watching him get all puffed up and chase his tail for a few days just to come back and state the obvious.

Anyway...... have fun outh there drivers oh, and you too Kabar.

Thanks for this info S2B. Very good and informative. Kabar just likes to stir up trouble. Trucking is what you make of it. If you are always looking for the bad you will find it. It's all in the attitude.
Kabar must have lots of time on his hands to go to all these threads and try to cause trouble.

VERY VERY Good info. I'm in school now and headed to Misoula after I finsh up. I look forward to getting up there and out on the open roads, CAGEtrucker is headed up next week and will let us know how it is going for him I'm sure. And to Kabar I'm not going to get him fired up but you are wrong. Thanks again for the info. TD.

 

TD, yes I will be in Missoula next Monday to start on Tuesday. I am 1 of a bunch I think 12 or 14. The guy from my school decided to go with Watkins as well he got approved today he is taking the bus from Flagstaff, I got luck and fly in on Monday. Travelocity was great $111 for 1 way from PHX to MSO it was $152.35 after travel insurance and tax.

Yes really and it is 4.5 hours on a plane instead of 1 day 10 hours on a bus, plus they will reimbursement me for the plane ticket since plus it was cheaper then the bus. I am bringing everything on the list from Roxy except the tools.

 

I just needed to jump in here and second what S2B is saying...I've just returned from a 10,000+ mile month. Every run I had this month, except 1 was over 1000 miles. I did a short one, 218 miles even tho I wanted more miles. I knew if I did this short one a better one would come along, and it did. Alabama to Washington state. I've NEVER said no to a load and have NEVER been asked to make a load that was impossible with legal hours. I talked to a guy last week on one of our terminals and he had been waiting for over 30 hours for a load...I got one out of there in a little over 12 hours. Methinks he was just lazy or looking for that "perfect" run that we know usually doesn't exist.

S2B is also right on about how everyone helps everyone else out here. To a person, every body I've ever asked any kind of question had been more than willing to help me out. Talk about a family-type company....while I was in the 10 day, the Director of Driver Services asked me if I would be willing to take him to the airport, which is right down the street from the Missoula terminal. That in itself surprised me, that someone who's pretty high up in management would ask a lowly student to help him out. And on top of that, he was pretty humble about it, and made sure to thank me many times for the favor.

I have many, many people I can call on for a number of things at any time of the day or night, as well as a network of drivers who I've befriened along the way. We keep in contact here, on Facebook, as well as text messages and phone calls.

Is this the BEST company out there? I can't answer that question for everybody, I just know it was the BEST company for me and my family, and that's all that matters in the end....

For the new guys to this site, make sure you go back and read the whole 280-some odd pages of this thread and you will see why WS was our choice..

 

Well said Warp and S2B, I am excited to be starting with Watkins on Tuesday, I fly in on Monday. The guy from my class, went to another company on Monday called me 30 minutes after he started askign if he could come over, while he was here we faxed his stuff into W/S and he is joining me next Monday. I am happy to be starting out with a FAMILY company, many say it but from talking to all you W/S drivers on here and on the phone I know it is true.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread active, I also know I made the right choice for my family.
