no not at all, the JROTC dress up and parade around doing Drill team and Color Guard stuff, while the USAF Aux has that as well we actully serve the country/community. While all they do is the paradeing around and getting credits for it in school.

Now the ROTC it totaly differant, thats how we get under quilified officers in the US military.

That's cool AT. I took a tour of a F4 phantom at Dobbins air force base with a Civil Air Patrol unit about 24 years ago. I almost joined the unit.

Hearing the term Civil Air Patrol connects a bit better. That I had heard about.

JROTC did do my oldest son a lot of good when we were living in Florida. Helped straighten out his attitude quite a bit and counter the effects of the influence of his father. At least in that respect it does have some value.

you should have you missed out on allot of fun and a little bit of work every now and then haha.

Its a far better thing for kids and adults to be involved in then the Boy Scouts no offence to anyone but, I'd rather have my son spending his free time learning survial skills and learning how to and ACTULLY saveing peoples lives and so on vs well the boy scouts.

In Ocotber 2003 the Boy Scouts in VT "hired" i guess you could say us to do sercurty for there Boy Scout Campeery and OMG those kids were rediculous. That was a fun three days for us though as we were working 24hrs a day and they had a "bed Time" haha. We had our nightvision stuff on and everything, haha good times

AT I did 4 years of AFJROTC in high school and obtained the rank of Captain. I learned a lot and yes we did Drill and Color Guard. We also did some air refueling of air craft from a KC 135.

He was at Southeast High School in Bradenton. It was Army, and beyond that I don't remember much else. He was only in it for a couple of years before we moved back to WI. WI doesn't have that here.

sry to hear that lol jk

Army JROTC has always been a joke and compared to the Boy Scouts because they get a ribbon everytime they sneeze just like the boy scouts get a patch for every thing.

In the military there are guidelines that dictate how your ribbons must be displayed and how far up your chest they can go like myself I had exactly the MAX amount of ribbons allowed to be worn. But the Army JROTC has alway ignored that regulation and worn them like the BS do there patches they LITERALY have them go from there chest and continue up AND OVER there shoulder and down there back.....That just makes the military look stupid.

The AFJROTC is very by the book which i like. The Navy Cadets are pretty cool too.

I'm glad the Army guys were able to help your son...its only fitting the army do something right every now and then :biggrin_25525:

A couple of years ago we had a couple of those guys come down to the marina. Apparently someone triggered an alarm on their boat that they picked up and were hunting it down as it could interfere with planes or something. I tell ya that tenant wasn't happy when we had to call them and tell them to come up to the marina at 3 am. lol
