Anyone liken them new wide drive tires ? They seem to slip and slide alittle more than the others. Anyone else think that or is it just me ? :biggrin_25510:

If you're talking about the super singles, I don't have them on my truck. But I think I can understand why they might not be so great on the snow. Since the tires are wider, the weight is distributed across a greater surface, and that means less pressure is being exerted on the snow per square inch of tire.... and that would result in less traction.

    Just my .02.

I don't use them myself, however I've heard a bunch great reviews about them, just heard yesterday on the radio about a guy using them going up to Alaska, he had no probs. His only complaint was having to buy new chains.

    Greetings,

Even though there are alot of reports about super singles giving less traction than conventional dual tires, there is actually less surface area with a super single 16" than with a dually 9" X 2 tires =18". So, that is not the reason but there might be another reason.

They do tend to slip a bit more on ice and wet pavement, than duals.

But, they handle as well on snow. IMO

They're easier to chain when needed too.

One thing that makes them more hazardous in snow and ice. 50% or more trend wear.

Michelin makes a new, and more aggressive tread. But few companies have implemented their usage.

Well, I got the dreaded 'didn't get hired' call tonight. It was the head of recruiting himself letting me know it wasn't me .. my record and background are perfect .. it was the 300 apps a day they're getting .. many from clean experienced drivers. And with their lower turnover, they just don't have a place for me. With what I've been reading about the market lately, I'm not surprised .. but very disappointed. I do appreciate the call and taking a few minutes to 'chat' with me .. no wonder I wanted to work there. Everyone I worked with were great and very upfront .. including Sandy who did all she could for me.

and now the quest continues .. but in another thread .. FFE/AE maybe ..

Thanks for all the advice and insight guy/gals!

Well now, that could prove rather embarassing.

    He had no money

    No experience

No CB turned on (since it caught him by surprise it seems) and W&S provides those too.

and wasn't expecting it....really? Nothing like driving in Colarado in the middle of summer...oh wait, this is December.

ALL W&S trucks come with NOAA weather radio. And the first ELECTRONIC sign is/was located almost 100 miles before the pass.

I wouldn't have given them my name...that's for sure.
