Im at home now and the truck is across the street.
I live 4.5 miles from the NY/PA state line near Binghamton NY.
A solid 170 or so miles from the closest terminal.
I dont always try and bring my truck home, but when I do I run local out of Austintown OH and they route me home.
Recently Ive been comparing what I make per mile and the miles I drive and I sure am glad I went with W/S.
My Next trip to Zoola, I'm going to talk to Macon about drivers that work as like safety officers for the company to help bring up problems we have as drivers for open discussion with Office staff so that we as a team can lower our preventable accidents and improve safety.

Thank you sir!
I just talked to W/S yesterday afternoon, I've been kicking it around for most of my life and feel that now be a time for a change in my life.
I worked for a furniture company when I was in high school for a few years and really liked being able to ride along to with the guys (let's face it, I liked the ride, not the loading/unloading) and remember how much I enjoyed it.
The lady was really nice, now i just have to see if i can make myself commit to it. Maybe if it's ok with you I could PM you sometime and ask a few questions?

jason, as much as i would like to see more drivers come and work here, you really need to take time and really think if you wanna get into trucking right now.
what do you do now?? you may be better there for the time.
untill things pick back up at least. w/s is a really good company to work for. if you really wanna do this, i would go out to mt and do the 30 day school they have out there, it will be better cause they will train u the legal way, and the w/s way as well, each company is different on things.
just something to consider
you cant pm him, but he can pm you i think u need 50 post in order to postjasondt2001 Thanks this. -
Thank you so much for your honest response! I'm thinking REALLY hard about this. I'm excited for myself, but, I'm fighting internally with leaving my wife behind. She's being really supportive and telling me to do whatever it is that would make me happy but, leaving her behind for some reason is hard.
I didn't even think about the PM thing until you mentioned it; It already slipped my mind about the lack of messages i have.
I understand it can be VERY slow right now.
I'm in real estate investment, most of the capitol i have for investments has an address attached to it already so I need something to make some money while all the escrow and RE stuff get tied up.
After that I should be ok, but, will need to do something on top of that to aquire more money to keep buying rentals. This is where the trucking aspect came in. I know it's not going to make me a millionaire but i sure like the idea of that rather than going back to management at a car dealership like I have done so many years.
I have a school here that's 1k dollars less than theirs and it'd be more time I could spend at home. Yet - this school is in California that doesn't have snow and big mountains... I think It would honestly be better for me to experience those types of things in a real world experience.
I like what i read about this company, I know all of them have their 'things' and drawbacks but this one seems to be on good graces with alot of people on this board.
I sure appreciate your input, sincerely! If you have anymore please feel free to share with me! -
well, it seems like you have put much thought into this.
if w/s is your company of choice, call w/s and make sure that the school you are looking at is an approved school for w/s.
as far leaving your wife at home- well yeah it can be hard, but its something you both can and will have to adjust to. if she's not working, she can come along with you after 90 days.
others will give ya their input on what they think as well, just keep checking out the thread on w.s youll find just about EVERYTHING their is to no about the company.
you actually get more info on here then on w/s actual site haha,jasondt2001 Thanks this. -

Whew...97 pages...finally finished it: time to post.
I never wanted to work for a company more than this one, for many reasons.
9 yrs. driving won't help me much, since I've been in construction the last 19...but Roxy was supportive and agreeable: I have a chance, I think that's IF they're gonna run a March class...and IF my small credit will be enough...(we were taught not to use credit; paid cash)...and IF they're even needing drivers now. Only 600 trucks? Can't be many seats, but I'd give my left nut to get on with them.
I'm a worker. Weightlifter. Healthnut.
I drove like a dangfool my last 5 years of it, until Prime ran me into the ground with speed and miles. Nothing I'd like better these days than to drive a legal job (would be like a vacation, really), lump my own freight, and get paid for what I do. I bet I could make them some serious money. I'm good with customer relations too: often make friends with people others said couldn't be gotten along with.
Called up steve (T) today and his story really let my air out. It doesn't sound good for hiring with WS. I guess I'll find out this week.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 8, 2009
