I would make a sub forum first to see if it takes off. This forum and others out there are based on the honor system anyway. No way to verify a truckers experience.
I myself run 2 trucks and 1 is a lease and one i straight up own. I treat them the same when it comes to streamlining costs. One will always have a payment and one wont.

There is no difference between an o/o that has his own authorty and one that runs under the authority of Landstar, Mercer, F2F, etc....However the guys that Lease Purchase from England, Prime, CRST, etc...might be better suited to have a sub fourm, they have different situations than we do and someone posting for info might not get as many jaded opinions from o/o that have no idea of that life.

now I said all that to say the search feature on this forum is rarely used and you will still continue to find the same repetive post no matter what category you put it in.....exactly what we need "I AM THINKING OF A LEASE PURCHASE HOW DO I CALCULATE EXPENSES?" Same topic #885

Most forums try to operate off the "three click method," that is, you can get to wherever you need in three clicks. The other target goal is to keep this consolidated and simple. If you start making sub-forums for everything, then posts spread out and people are less likely to check them and post, thus a forum dies out. Too much clutter makes things confusing and unappealing. For what little my opinion is worth here, I say keep them together and let people continue to scroll through them together.

Perhaps as a solution to an issue you could change the name of the forum to Owner/Lease Operators or something of that nature.

Lease operators don't necessarily lease from their carries either. For instance: starport leasing http://www.spleasing.com/

I don't care either way I'm just here for the show :stirpot:

You people are still not getting the meaning of ''LEASE/OPERATOR''. The term has nothing to do with where the truck came from but where it is. If you are running under someone elses authority other than your own you are a LEASE/OPERATOR. If you run under your own authority you are an OWNER/OPERATOR. Years ago people would trip lease, meaning the would run under someone else's authority for one trip, one load, That didn't mean they rented a truck for one load. You were supposed to run their signs on your truck for that trip.

but i think the point of this thread is that there is a difference between your average prime/england lease operator, vs an actual owner who leases/owner operator

the entire fleece/lease operators of these mega carriers is the problem, not people who actually own their truck or even have a good understanding of what leasing a truck to a company actually means

these megacarriers are using people and giving them a false sense of ownership when truth is, these drivers do not own anything and even if it is a lease purchase, they wont own it until the title is signed into their name, which almost never happens

so the forum gets cluttered with posts about "my husband is going broke" or "i havent gotten paid in 6 weeks" types of threads from newbies who have been suckered into these "independent operator" contractors
