Simple. Because your competition is hauling it. If nobody hauled it, it would pay more. Until someone agrees to haul it. You are mad at brokers for being good businessmen.

RockinChair, Siinman, PPNLE and 3 others Thank this.

No broker anywhere makes 40% off of every load they run. Id venture to say no broker mays 40% off of even one load. Its hilarious yall think this. No customer on earth would even allow that to happen. They arent dumb, you might win once or twice, but if a customer finds out you ripped them a new one, you will likely lose business. Id have to bill a customer 10,000 and find a carrier to do it for 6,000 so its not going to happen on either end. Now some brokerages pay 25% commission overall. So a broker may get paid 2500 for every 10000 in revenue/profit generated, for example, which is much different than 40% off each load.

And dont forget, if some slowpoke driver runs his reefer on cycle, and we dont have money on the books with them, his insurance will deny due to driver negligence, and the broker is going to be responsible for that full claim.

As Milton Friedman said if you put the Federal govt in charge of the Sahara Desert there would be no sand in 5 years.
There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

Go to broker(you choose the name) webpage. There you can see tab for customers. Click and request the quote for shipping from A to B (line you can verify rate on loadboard).

Decided I'd pop back in and see how things were over this way. It's been a while. I see that the circle of freight life continues.

Pretty much this. I have guys trying to undercut each other all the time.
