Hi, Boy o boy- the last 2 months have sure come down on us.Between the west to east coast non-stop joy ride, deaths via accidents, drug hauling, smugglers using trailers, etc.Uninformed media outlets, running their mouths(right or wrong)just for ratings.Millenials jumping to conclusions because they see a name on a trailer. The ole blame game is directed right at truckers.
Nothing new(in my 32 yrs of trucking),just seems to be out there more.I just flew from Quito to Miami n back, escorting 800 pounds of welding rod-im at a meeting in Quito, all night long people asking n telling me about the CRAZY american truckers. It really is mind boggling how wrong these people are.1 instance=conversation goes to Wal-Mart hauling illegals.Im like what? But sure enough,on tv,there's a story about the recent texas incident-with nothing but a picture of a wal-mart truck n trailer thruought the whole article.I'm just shaking my head.
Now i read about the sinkhole in florida.Caused by trucks n constuction equipt. What?Sinkholes have been around florida ever since Ponce De Leon fell into 1 back in 1492!

Massive Florida sinkhole grows as 2 more homes condemned

    Then,a small amount of weed is discovered in a trailer(guess where?) yup-a walmart parking lot.So what right?Here's a 2 minute video-at 1:15 they interview a Dr(dentist chic)-listen to what she says about me(us).

Just seeing this stuff down here in south america is now giving me insight. They are watching falsely reported news, they are taking you tube videos as gospel and just laughing their ### off at us gringo's.

I know it will never happen, but wouldnt it be wonderful if we all shut down for 2 weeks,if nothing else-just to gain RESPECT as the professional drivers we are!
Keep the shiny side n the greasy side down!

I saw a reporter say that trucking companies have Forced Dispatch.Which means even if the driver is tired, and needs to sleep. They have to take it because it's forced on us.

10 dead illegal immigrants in a wal mart parking lot in San Antonio, and now 500 lbs of marijuana in another wal mart parking lot. Don't be surprised in the near future if Wal mart corporate puts a stop to all semi parking in all of their lots.

    They don't know crazy.

    I do.

If they think that mild stuff is crazy..... no. That's not it.

To be really crazy is to permit yourself and your truck to go into a situation most people will flat refuse.

You know what the funny thing is
Even if wal mart said no semi parking anymore at any locations, most would still complain about that, as they get in their car when they're at home, on their way to wal mart...

    Not for medicines I don't

We experimented with them for two months. The staff pharmacist insisted on announcing in a loud voice to everyone behind me (20 plus..) the name of the narcotic I am picking up as a form of counseling.

I am returning to the one pharmacy that I have gotten them for 20 years now discreetly and quietly. You are dealing with medicines that approach 500 dollars a month. That's alot of sales involved.

We also have begun to migrate from WM for certain other products. Low pricing is not everything.

It's funny you should bring up the pharmacy in wal mart. My parents are/were both pharmacists. Had own business sold it did great. In Canada seniors pay a $2 fee as opposed to the regular fee (maybe $8, I can't remember) for the filling fee. Some would come in and say "well wal mart waives the $2 fee why can't you?" Dad invited them to take their business to wal mart. When he would meet these people in public if they had a question about their medicine or any pharmacy questions....he would direct them to ask their pharmacist. The nearest wal mart is about 30 miles away. Many customers transferred back once they learned the value of service. Some did not, but it's all good.

That depends on your experience and stupidity.

    You got that right.

Connecticut closed I think it was route 8 for total replacment down to dirt including bridges. They had signed the route entirely legalese that if you go that way it's totally your risk and expenses.

The long story short turned out to be the three bridges. Each one did not yet have decking poured. So presenting the under girders between the vertical supports which just happened to be just as wide as the COE steers and not wider. SO the outside trailer wheels hung over the water on each of the crossings. Two were curved creating a situation where one trailer dual held the entire load from going over.

The entire route was also on mud and dirt. Interlock all the way up and all the way back. Figured I deal with the devil I learned rather than attempt another route.

Crossing those bridges over open water was a experience I remember like yesterday. And I don't do heights at that time in my life.

    Stupid? YES. Experience? Ha, gained.
