weather related accidents?

my other rule of thumb is avoid 80 across iowa in a snowstorm ...i dont know why but everytime it snows across that stretch it turns into a 308 mile junkyard .

 

Some will send out general alerts about bad weather. . But really it is the drivers responsibility to know the weather conditions. .. we have it a lot lot easier today... most of us have smart phones and instant access to weather, the t.v.s and truck stops.. the weather reports are far better today then they use to be.... so, really it is not hard at all for a driver to be aware of the weather conditions....

 

If you have a laptop computer it pays to invest in internet service of some sort. You can pull up a lot of info on the roads on the dot transportation websites. I am finding WA is a pain though, but they do post the road weather temps.

Husband closed down at TA, Rawlins, WY. The road was closed after that anyway till about Rock Springs at least, he barely made it in, got stuck, and had to put on his cables to move. Got out ok the next day.

He is shut down in Mountain Home, ID now, roads slick and snow a coming down. ID has a map with the weather temps from different weather stations, and I think it has proven to be pretty accurate tonight.

And remember with a lot of companies if you put the chains on, and have an accident, then you are more at fault they presume. It is in some companies opinion, better for you to sit it out if you can.

I 80 and I 70 across WY, NE, and other points have closures for wind, I believe this is posted on the highway, but that doesn't mean a stray burst won't hit before you hit those areas. OK is getting to be about as bad sometimes also.

Pay attention to weather maps also on internet.

 

You ALWAYS have the option to stop and anytime you don't use that option, you are accepting all responsibility from that point forward and can no longer blame the weather, it's all you...

Just because you have done something 100s of times before doesn't mean the one time it bites you doesn't make it your fault, it will be 100% YOUR fault...

The line "too fast for conditions" is applicable anytime there is an accident in weather...If they want to get you, they will...That being said, all weather related accidents are preventable if you didn't park, sometimes the law will give you a break though...It's just something we have to accept...
