I'm on a reset...Yeah....I suppose I should just have started my "34" over again right?
Besides...All the spots were taken......And I had been there since noon or so....The other driver pulled in late evening....
Anyway....Got up this morning....Talked to another driver who was also gassed by this guy....He said the guy's APU was messed up....he had to run his CPAP....He apologized to the other driver.....But the APU hasn't run in like two weeks and his company hasn't had the time to fix it yet.......![]()

I think I'm going to get a weedburner. Then I can park next to Ron and run both the weedburner and the reefer.
*beams a happy lil smile* -
For car haulers they make sense.....
Other carriers spec them because:
- Their supposedly more aerodynamic and;
- They cost less then having stacks....
It sucked for the guys in the trench because they would get gassed out every time a truck moved with the backhoe on excavations.....
Btw...backhoes by law in Cali have the stacks turned away from the cab so the operator doesn't get gassed.... -
Or you could spec out a long rail rig like mine.....I have twin stacks and the headache sits behind them....It's a 256" WB which is long for an aero....but it works great for hauling pipe/beam loads when I have to hang 2' off the nose of the trailer......

I had two hot plants I backed my ten-wheeler in.....One sand/rock/gravel I had to back my low-side in.....No biggie....

I definitely understand that spec'ing a weed burner makes sense for some applications, I was making a similar point.
The dock trucks I drove had this exhaust style in place. Because we had to go into some underground docks where head room is a major concern, with overhead concrete beams, and plumbing conduits running everywhere.
The boxes would sometimes just clear those low hanging items, and a stack might rip the pipes from their retaining bolts. As well as getting bent up on the concrete beams. -
Right.....But vocational applications and OTR applications are two different animals...
I know Kevin Rutherford loves them..... -
The gist is....We as OTR drivers get sheyat for sleep....
Most truck stops are located adjacent to major highways....some are near air strips....Some have rail traffic that runs 24/7.......The noises you can "tune out"....."Weed-burner" exhaust......Seeps into every nook and cranny of rig....these things aren't air tight...... -
Yeah if I was buying a new truck. My '07 379 I bought new and ordered the truck with a 280" wb because I was hauling long beams but I have sold that truck and bought a used T800 with a 233" wb with a stack behind the sleeper. If I were to go back OTR pulling a flat I would have no option but to put a weed burner on. I would also install my APU also to run my CPAP and microwave, refrigerator etc..... The cost to mount the exhaust up front on the side of the cab would be ridiculous.

Maybe you could come up with an idea to attach a flex pipe with an easy attachment to the weed burner at night that will run the fumes straight up. You could make a fortune. My luck the pipe would fall over against the truck next to me and he would have his windows down and it would kill the poor guy.Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
