Hey everyone! I'm really sorry its been so long since I've posted anything, but out here on the road (unless your at a truck stop) its almost impossible to get an internet connection.
So its been six days so far and let me tell you, its been a challenge. I have the BEST trainer I could have ever hoped for. We get along very well and I'm learning alot! The only thing I'm having trouble with is floating gears to downshift. I can do it on the upshift, but downshifting is a whole other story. Its getting better everyday though and my trainer is very patient and encouraging about it.
Things will definitely change once your out on the road with your trainer. The school trainers teach you to pass the test, in the actual real life situation of driving, its a little more difficult. There is alot of stuff that I have to change how I do it now and it kinda sucks because I spent so much time focusing on learning it over the course of school. Now I have to un-learn it and learn a new way. The concepts are the same, but the execution is sometimes different. Backing and shifting are the two main areas that differ greatly out here then they did in school.
Its all coming together and I can't wait to see what happens over the next few weeks. To all of you that started yesterday, GOOD LUCK!!! I don't know when I'll be back in Salt Lake, but if you see a red Kenworth W-9, with a confederate flag on the grill, pull into the parking lot, then that's me!
Take care and drive safe y'all!
*P.S.-sorry about the wrong name on the laundry sheets. You are right, they are Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheetsChipperDawg Thanks this. -
Thanks for the update techiekate29! I look forward to hearing from you when you've returned from training.

I have just short of 3 recent yrs operating but many years part time. I currently drive a tractor with less than 20,000 mi and its near impossible to float certain gears yet.
Whatever you do, please stay safe. -
Kate,
Congrats on your progress to this point. I really enjoy reading your updates. Keep up the good work and stay safe... -
That's great Kate. Oscar and I are here and are roomies. We passed the cdl permit test today. So things are moving along great. One thing we both agree one for everyone coming here is to get a cdl test booklet NOW and start studying. The more you know the better before you get here. This is an excellerated course. I know I spelled that wrong. But you will be better off, better informed and just better overall. Ok, the shuttle to walmart is coming and we are going. But to all, so far this is a pretty good place to start your career. Wow... I can finally say I'm gonna have a career and not just a job. Ok, later.

so can we bring a little bit of food with us already just some microwavable stuff?
