After you've been on the road for a few years, that will no longer matter.

I know of several cement companies that will hire you at full pay after 6 months here in SoCal.

There is not an application I've ever seen that asks for how long one has been driving. All I've ever seen asks for start date and end date. So if their hiring ad requires 6 months, or 12 months or whatever they want to see that time frame hired. In a nutshell go off your hire date but still put in the app if you are short. I got on my current company @ 11 months with Swift when they wanted 1 year of experience.

You train before you get your CDl, so when you get your cdl any driving for money after that is experience.

Not trying to sound like a broken record (I've mentioned it elsewhere), but as a new guy...check out food service and LTL gigs. Many companies in those two niches will take recent CDL grads with zero experience. The few months experience that you have might not sound like much, but they're better than having 0 months experience. Just my $.02...

Maybe the application format has changed. Most of the applications I put in (10-11/2014) wanted to know the amount of months or years of service operating 'x' equipment. Some companies even wanted to know approximate mileage (i.e. Combo, Straight truck, etc.). Some have an auto-fill format that asks early on how many months experience you have. If you don't have the required amount (i.e. 12 months)...it won't even let you proceed with the application.
