That's a nice breakdown, thanks. Well, I will be working as a company driver soon, so I guess the ONLY way to be sure which method works best, would be to work the 8.75 miles per day for 2 weeks, then reset, then do 2 weeks @ 10 hrs per day, and see which produces the most revenue.
Truth be told, taking a 34 after each week doesn't sound too bad anyway![]()

I just run my arse off 5 days/ week. Wednesday nights I send a call msg to dispatch asking to route through the house or home terminal.
So far, so good.
I spend weekends in a swimming pool, at a beach, roller-rink, bowling alley, or hiking a mountain trail with my wife and kid.
Take home over $1000/ week when I use up every hour of my drive clock, sleep at rest stops or customers... bath with wet wipes.
4 nights sleeping in a truck, 5 days hauling ### around the country, enough money to live very comfortably, three nights at home= worth it. -
After an 8 week cycle, you average the same, either way. -
How come us Canadians, with the 70/7 always do resets yet the US guys with the 70/8 say resets are a waste of time?
I am at home now and my reset will be up long before I would get any hours back under the 70/8.
8.75 hours a day, no wonder the truck stops are always full.Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
That's known as "home every weekend" in the business.
Happy to interpret that advertising phrase for ya Rook! Its what we drivers do for one another right!?!
Right!?!

Like I said sometimes I do two a week and still have time to make money.
Personally I think the 34 is the best thing since fingers for your hands.
Ya never have to sweat your hrs , heck I just started one and I still have 30 left -
Here is another perfect example of why one does a reset.
I did a Reset in Ontario CA last Thursday, so my 8 day period began anew on Friday. Friday I drove to Santa Nella amd loaded for a run to Buffalo. I am currently 37 miles from Delivery in the Morning and I have 21:45 hrs left on my 70. I get no more time back until Sat at 3am Eastern because I log Pacific time, then I will get back 6 hrs and change So that leaves me roughly 28 hrs for 4 days.
My next load picks up tomorrow 37 miles from where I unload, and it delivers in Los Angeles on Monday Morning. So with Recaps I do not have enough time to run this load.
So my solution is I will run out the 21 hrs over the next two days and shut down around OK City on Thursday afternoon . Should be around 4 pm at the latest, so by 2 am cst on Saturday, when I would be getting back the 6 and change, I will Instead he getting back a full 70 and can run on into Ontario and shut down Sunday afternoon, 45 miles from Mondays delivery, and with enough time to get reloaded and back across to the east again next week.
This is why I do resets and not run 8.75 each day.scottied67 Thanks this.
