Hey guys I haven't posted here in awhile but I was set to start onboarding training for JBHUNT Regional intermodal in Cedar Rapids IA. I was wondering has anyone made $1600 running out of this area? The recruiter said that's the average in the area. I'll be doing regional 5 on 2 off. Thanks for your time guys.

That's a bit much for cans.

When I was a dispatcher at JB I spent two years in intermodal at the Chicago yard. The local guys are the ones that were crushing it. The OTR and regional guys did really good to and it was rare to get a guy that wasn’t happy. It’s stressful though. The pay was good in intermodal when I was there, and that was back in 2009-2011.

Im glad it is good. I remember when I did cans for Port East back in the 80's they paid like 50 dollars a can for all day from 2 am Baltimore to drop off at Norfolk by 8 am then sit until 5 or 6 pm waiting. 20 dollars for a chassis back to baltimore. There was no money in it. IF there was any at all, the gas tank took it for the commute.

That was a long time ago. I would certainly expect much better for the can drivers. Much better.
