Hi all
Just curious if anyone here is or has worked for Wegmans (Grocery store)driving?
I am from Rochester where the company is based- see tons of trucks/day cabs and was just looking for some information on them. I know Wegmans is a good company to work for over all and has been on Forbes 10 ten list like 12 years in a row.

last i knew, rochester was teamsters local 118, good wages and benefits. i think around 18-19 an hour, not sure about what they pay for insurance, it could be free still. I know that they paid into the nys teamsters pension as well, but this is all info from 2 years ago, that a steward from another barn told me.
I guess the really choice runs are running down south into pa and va, and they put you up in a hotel overnight.sammycat Thanks this. -
Thanks alreadygone

good luck, i wish it wasn't a 100 mile drive, or i would apply there myself!

There are so many stores all around the NE coast- can't you apply somewhere else/another city? Actually last I looked on line about a week ago there was only one driver position here in Rochester for Saturdays only. I guess to get your foot in the door though.....seems to me like a good job too!! -
yeah, tops logistics arm is pretty good too, i guess, erie logistics, but they are on shaky ground being bought out by c&s wholesale grocers. they could be on strike next year, or be taking cuts in benefits and pay. so at this point, i am sticking with land air express. If i move from this, it will either be a better(union)freight company, or a dump truck or redi mix outfit, and just take the winters off.

c&s (tops) outta lancaster the trucks are erie logistics but you gotta go through c&s for and app they say there hiring i applied 3 times heard nothing
-
yep, me too. they say that they start you out at 14.25, but i work with a lady who's hubby works there, and she said after 2 years he is on a bid run and up to 24 an hour? thieir pay scale is all voodoo to me, i have never heard of that big of a jump in wages anywhere except ups, but they are huge, i just cant wrap my head around how tops supposedly pays that.
I dunno, I am a little bit closer than you are, in north collins, but it would be a pain in the ### to drive from jamestown to lancaster every day. its a pita to drive to work every day in tonawanda, and i think lancaster is about 10 miles further. -
well i would move closer if i did get a job there. but i dated a girls whos dad has been a driver there for over 15 years he knows alot ppl there and i still dident here nuttin i got a perfect driving record i dont get it but oh the lancaster warehouse is the only one that has a union left c&s is trying to get rid of it

they still force guys with 40yrs seniority to work weekends. Plus, it's a split pay scale, you'll never make what guys that have been there for years make. It takes 10yrs to get to top rate now. It would be OK if you got on a mileage run though, usually a layover.
FYI, I live in NC but, drove for wegmans when I lived in rochesteralready gone and sammycat Thank this.
