Weigh Station backed up to the road. Attn New Drivers

Unfortunately Oregon also actually chases drivers down for scale dodging. In addition they have signage stating “BYPASS PHOTO ENFORCED”. Seeing as how that particular weigh station is near a state line it doesn’t surprise me that it’ll stay open! If anything the 4 wheeler is responsible for the accident by failing to pay attention to changing traffic conditions!

 

I accidentally skipped one of those “Bypass Photo Enforced” in OR, and nothing happened to me fortunately. I would have turned around, but the next exit was like 10 miles down.

 

I would rather be chased down and explain myself then to jeopardize innocent lives. And if there is cameras i would ask them to look at how backed up it was. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to start a war. Just 25+ yeras and 3 million miles accident free judgement call i would make. I want to thank all you drivers for the ones going above and beyond during this time of need and i wish you all safety and good health

 

Not many drivers have that luck(nor the money) to pay the fines associated that issue however.

 

Guess paying for funerals is cheaper

 

For some it actually is. Plus some of those weigh stations have surveillance cameras so if they see someone rearend someone else at a weigh station they’ll know who is actually accountable.

 

There are so many ways of looking at this. And im not saying im a super trucker so please dont blast me. But i can say i have both accidently and purposely blown by scales that were open and i have yet to be chased down. Maybe ive been lucky in over 25 years or i dont know. Now i will say i have never blown important scales such as truckee ca. Unless backed out onto interstate and a list of other scales i just wont blow. There are some i blow weekly and others ill take an extra 15 or 20 minutes to go around. Thing is i dont trust cops and i dont trust the D.O.T. i really think safety is the last thing on their minds. They are about$$$ and brownie points from their superiors. Therefore i would rather not give them my buisness. I have nothing to hide. Im sorry i just dont trust cops.

 

There are some I don’t trust either but at the same time I’m not going to do anything to attract attention to myself. (fly below the radar,maintain the status quo)

If it at all possible I try to take an alternate legal route or darn well make sure the truck is balanced out in case I get pulled onto the scales.
