Yep, those sensors scare the #### out of me. But somehow from the manufacturers to the builders to the megas and insurance companies feel they are safer than driver judgement.

Don't know about paccar products, by freightshaker will disable that p.o.s. system for a small fee.

Paccars response is 2 middle fingers. Wont disable it even if you own the truck for liability reasons. Had to go 3rd party to get mine turned off.

Did you try mounting the license plate over the radar dome?

We have one Pete like that. No stupid auto braking and the cruise actually still works.

I did, any time anything metalic got infront of the radar it put 100% brakes on until removed. So the guy who did....other modifications that shall not be named due to fourm rules also changed a bunch of settings and my cruise still works. Basically set it up like it wasnt equiped with the radar then unplugged the system. If it ever becomes law to have it then i can reconnect it.

But once i do my repower i plan to cut off this low quality bumper and add on a much nicer one then fully remove and box up the system for if i ever need it.

I think it's a real b to physically remove all the parts and wiring harnesses.

That's why they just change the computer settings.

Who does the next of kin sue when autobraking puts the truck into a jack knife and kills the unlucky driver? The company or the truck manufacturer?

    The driver obviously /sarcasm

Not as much as you think. Mine is attached to a mount behind the bumprr with a harness going upto the engine. When i take my paccar out to put in my cat all the stuff will be easily accessible. And i need to remove it anyway since the bracket is just tall enough to get in the way of the engine. And if im doing that well the bumper i got after that wreck is cheap chinisium grade garbage and is already badly rusting. So choppy choppy!

And now the safety nazis and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, wants to mandate those systems on all new trucks. And sooner or later the FMCSA will cave.
Almost as bad as Ford wanting to equip their self driving cars with the tech to have the car start itself, then drive itself away to the repo yard when they need to take a car back.
