Virginia is the same way. I expect that is one reason more states are building super coops. I am sure that it has nothing to do with making more money. They just want to make sure that we are safe. :biggrin_25512:

Maryland has the worst scale. I95N right after the susquahana tolls. Its always backed up thru the tolls. No prepass, not that it does much good in md, ive sat on the scale with a empty flat after a prepass red light. i have noticed guys hauling hazmat will skip the open scale there when its backed up. One told me he isnt having his hm filled tank sitting there for a four wheeler to hit coming up on the cash box.

Wish I had read this sooner, I pass that Grand Bay TA twice a day 5 days a week now. Would have bought ya a cup of coffee, and told you about the Oasis :)
If scales are open with trucks backed up to the end of the on-ramp I go on past..never had a problem.

read the signs before you get to scale, ALL THE SIGNS, It say "truck with pre-pass follow onboard signal", if the sign on the highway light up to enter, you may pass, If you like?, ask the officer in the scale house, we will tell you the same.

You said there are signs besides the "pre-pass" that say to by-pass the scales if there full, "Which scales have this sign in California I asked" ?
