But if the posted speed is 35 mph through the bypass, then by God, please do not make the rest of us do 15 mph because you missed the sign or are a nervous wreck...

seventhirty and bzinger Thank this. -
I do not do OTR, so I have not crossed a large variety of scales, or experienced the whims of a great many authorities. But, FWIW, I approach at 10MPH and cross the scales at 3MPH or less, unless otherwise stated. So far, those are the numbers I have seen posted in AK, WA and ID.
G13Tomcat and seventhirty Thank this. -
Lol...understood

Thanx everyone...I try to be as cautious as I can with EVERYTHING I do out here. But the scales are the only thing that get me a little nervous!
Thanx for the feedbackAlaska76 Thanks this. -
Be cautious not to be too slow as well, had a driver cited for impeding in Michigan a few years ago. Scale was posted min. 15, max 25, he rolled across at 10 mph.
seventhirty, DoneYourWay and tlalokay Thank this. -
If no signs its best to go slow and remain that speed.seventhirty Thanks this.

I pulled into the east bound NM weigh station in Lordsburg a few months ago. The truck in front of me was doing 10mph even though signs are posted to maintain 30 (or 35) then stop at the booth. The dummy had traffic backed up the interstate so bad that they actually closed the station.
DOT officers where walking next to his truck yelling at him to speed up and wouldn't do it. He then stopped at the booth even though DOT was yelling for him to go park behind the scale house. He sat there for about 10min trying to give his papers to the person in the booth. She is also trying to tell him to go park.
He finally moves and goes to exit the scale. He was quickly chased down before he made it out. That's when it sunk in that he needed to go park.
I get to the booth and the lady tells me that driver didn't speak a any english. He only spoke whatever they speak in India.seventhirty, KillingTime, G13Tomcat and 1 other person Thank this. -
The answer is that except for the scales on US highways, like us 30 and 41, the ramp speed limit in Illinois is 30 mph. so is the bypass lane.DoneYourWay and G13Tomcat Thank this.
