I have a harder time getting thru Winterhaven than I do Banning.

If I get hit with an Inspection in Calif its at the Castiac Scales. FYI they are by Magic Mtn. The problem with Banning is they sometimes forget to turn on the bypass light when they get full.

    Scales don't bother me.
I have only been parked once at a scale...It was about 20 years ago at Castaic and it was due to a mistake on a California issued permit. I have never had any problems anywhere else...Ever!

I've been pulled in and inspected but have never had a problem and have always gotten a sticker...

I guess I'm lucky. I've heard lots of horror stories but never had to deal with any of it.

The Florida scales very rarely ever close, but from receiving a handful of overweight tickets in Florida, in my opinion, you will never deal with nicer people.

The circle jerk! They don't even weigh you! If there isn't a bear keeping an eye on things outside on the highway, I don't even stop there any more.

I missed that one too the first time down that way. Went an exit up and came back. Some days (nights) I'm a schmuck!

Aw come on man! We all know thinking is optional in Cali... cross border, check mind!

"screwing truckers" may have been on the mind when the Cajon Pass scale was approved. However, it's a very short grade. Drive slow and let the truck's engine brake and tranny hold you back and you have no problems. I ran the Cajon Pass twice a day at 79,900 (hauling bulk powder) and never had a problem. Funny thing is though, I was working for a local company called Hartwick and Hand and I had already passed the cajon scales, passed the 15 split, hell, I was already down past the I10 and the 60 when a brake hung up and caught on fire. I was on the side of the freeway my LIMONITE (for those that know the area) and the company tried telling me it was because I over heated the brakes going down the pass. Had I overheated the brakes on the pass, I never would have made the split. The other tough scale is Tehachapi on the 58 west.

Oh, *TECHNICALLY* you dont have to stop in ohio scales unless you are hauling hazmat. I had a Wyoming DOT officer once pull me around back (like they do...every single time...) and then tell me that i did not have to stop at this scale because there was not a sign that said anyone had to stop there. Well, in ohio theres a sign saying hazmat vehicles have to stop there and nothing else....

....So if you run an ohio scale, get a ticket, and fight the ticket, i really wonder if theres anything they can say....
