I always thought that Ohio meant, even if you got the green light on prepass... you still need to roll through with hazmat.

That's exactly what Ohio means... if you have a placarded hazmat load, you roll through the scales prepass or not.

You can play games with the scales and DOT bears if you like. Its a fairly expensive ticket if you blow by them on the theory that your interpretation of some sign can keep you out of a court room. It won't. The bears ticket you - you have to go back and spend the time, effort and money to fight it. Personally I have better things to do, and don't care to risk having a ticket for being an arrogant trucker on my MVR. That sort of thing will start having a big effect on your employability when CSA 2010 kicks in.

    Storm Thanks this.

Yup... co and wy are mostly looking for tax compliance - had a nice chat with a lady bear in Alpine WY a couple of weeks ago. I suspect I'll be stopping in Limon this afternoon; first time I've been through since the beginning of the year.

    Where was that? In Casper?

That was the scale where they told me the same thing.

    Evanston is not bad.
I've watched a lot of drivers park any where they please in the lot. Saunter in paper work in hand and use the can. Idle their way back out to the truck and roll. Having never entered the office part of the scale. Other drivers I've watched roll straight thru the lot and not get out of the truck. Other drivers park down towards the end for a few minutes. And then roll.

Not that I've ever done that. I had prepass the last couple yrs I ran that way.

Please by all means please post them. You can make a special thread if you like and I'll sticky it. It'll keep all of us entertained.

Ever hear of Jim Geeting? Tall Cop productions? Hes a retired WY cop turned author. My brother gave me the Truckers and Troopers book for christmas.
    Its an interesting read.
He goes into detail about the love hate relationship between the fuzz and truckers.

If you go thru Alpine regular you can ask them to add you to their list of regulars. You won't have to get out then. Or thats how it was back in the days I ran thru there a lot hauling hay. Back then it was a mom and daughter running the scale.

Its one of the loads I can get outbound from the various places we deliver to in the Salt Lake/Ogden area... produce out of Idaho Falls. Usually just run across the scales since its not prepass - that was the first load through WY for me this year.
