I say any time your In cab signal differs from the Scale sign. Obey the scale sign. DOT doesn't care what you say your onboard device says to do.

Our company has told us to always stop with hazmat loads even if you get the green light or by pass message from the wim signs. Guess we have had a couple drivers chased down for not stopping before.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Hazmat changes everything.
Friend, not4hire and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Don't know if they communicate but once i got "exit to weigh station" sign in Ga while drivewyze said "bypass" ,so just to be safe i went in but got bypass lane anyway,so,who knowsNavigatorWife Thanks this.

I always say tie goes to the driver -- and bypass if I have a red light and a "truck ok to bypass" message or if I get a green light and a "truck must exit" message. Never been chased down

North Platte NE gave me one chance, that was back in 2009.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

All weigh stations have a sign prior to the scale saying to the affect of "trucks follow in cab devices" when it comes to whether to exit the scale or not
Lyle H, Oxbow, Big_D409 and 1 other person Thank this. -
No, don't. Do you think they change the road sign for each individual truck? No, they don't. The scale master sees the same thing on their computer as the driver does. If the driver gets a bypass... then bypass (unless hazmat, special instructions, yada, yada, yada...).Last edited: Dec 10, 2016

According to the Drivewyze website, they have coverage at 19 sites in GA and 14 in LA (among others). If the scales you are passing are not on the list (click on the state name to see the coverage map and list) then follow the scale signs, otherwise... drive on!
The do have a special arrangement at five scales in LA (shown on the Bypass Restrictions page) where they actually do change the road signs.
