The lead unit got lost but Herr Schickel found some signs saying "deutsche Panzer nach Frankreich.*" so they were all good.

Signs were 25 years old but hey, it's not like they had GPS to blame it on back then.

Not like it made much difference. The French surrendered after a month. :biggrin_25523:

The scales in Seymour, In got closed down several years ago because of an accident. I guess they decided not to reopen them? They were hellonwheels when they were open though! lol

That happened back in the 90s in New Mexico. It was intentional though, not an accident. Killed the driver but leveled the scalehouse.

The main reason you are seeing less open scales is budget problems. My information is 2nd handed but I was told that one of the reasons Mississippi closed those Toomsuba scales on I 20 back about 15 or so years ago was their DOT ran out of money. If I remember correctly the westbound Vicksburg scales were closed for a good while too around that same time. They got some federal money and got those new super coops built. Another thing as has been said before is a lot of states are focusing their DOT enforcement on being more mobile. It is an old adage and is just as true today as it was 50 years ago. Want to get to the bottom of something you FOLLOW THE MONEY!

To be fair that was set in stone before germany even mobilized. France didn't stand a chance. The Germans knew it, the French knew it, and the brits and Americans knew it. Tactical retreat was the only option. The plan was in place for months and it may have been the most successful allied operation of the european front.

Virtual scales are one of the new ways to go. Google them. Or look at FL info and learn all about them.
