Hey looking at two combinations. If anyone runs either can you please advise what you can scale.
    First is a W9 (2000) with a combo 48' flat.

Second would be a 379 with same type of trailer.

We don't currently run either type, we run steps. We are looking at some older pre emission trucks to run with flats for a new account and I just wondered which we'd be better off with to be able to scale 48k. I know the Peterbilt will be lighter. Just wondered how close the W9 would be. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2000 W900 N14, 13 speed, 72 inch studio and apu. I can only scale around 45,500 with a 48' combo flat. My former truck was an '07 379 C15, 13 speed 63" bunk and I could scale 47,500 with the same trailer.

You can take the same Pete and the same Trailer. Trucker A might scale 48,000 and trucker B can only scale 45000. We all pack around different equipment and different personal items.

I have a 379 and a Big Bubba I can only scale 46500. The next guy with the same set up can scale 48000

Engine, transmission, bunk size, steel or aluminum wheels, fuel capacity, wheelbase all factor into what you are asking.

They dont pay enough to haul over 45k IMO.

I can scale 46600 cutting cutting back on some fuel. How ever my dispatcher knows, unless its paying over $3 mi dont even book anything over 44500. I wont do it. Not worth the fuel and wear n tear on my truck.

I just switched from a 45 to a 48. With the 45 I could scale 48,000 with full tanks. Now I can only do 47,300. Time to shed some weight!
