That's what I've always thought too. Seems like joe-dogs all have fixed 5th wheels too whereas all the jeeps I've had experience with had sliders.

Some just have a power tower. Ours had sliders but it was only like one foot.

My jeep has a slider around 4-5 ft long. But it is also a 2+1 setup. Can remove the rear axle if not needed.

My jeep and most setup for mech neck trls are a fixed 5th wheel, I have a seen a couple with what I will call a mini slide. Like 1 foot long slide at the most

Seems like there were some that hooked into the tractor fifth wheel, but also attached to the frame somehow because there was not enough clearance to allow the joe dog to swing without hitting the back of the tractor frame, essentially making it another axle of the tractor. Maybe that was the difference.

    Never seen that. Sounds neat.

@nate980 would probably have some good pics of the jo dog in use. I seem to recall quite a few pictures of him with one.

I haven't ever seen that either. Interesting concept, would instantly turn the tractor into a 4 axle rig, without adding much extra length and easier to back up.

All a Google search turns up for "jiffy lock" is some sort of locking device for electrical panels.
