Hello, I have been driving oil field equipment for about 4 years but will now be tranporting chemicals(totes,Drums) on pallets in a 48' Dry van trailer. I was wondering when transporting a partial load of 12 pallets with a total weight of about 30,000 pounds. Is it better to start from the front of the trailer and put the load side by side back, or start further back towards the trailer tandems(not passing them) and leave a gap in the front of the trailer?

Also when fully loaded, will it be best to start with the fifth wheel in the center between the drive axles and the trailer axles slid all the way forward for my first weigh in?

I would stack toward the drive wheels. Keep your 5th wheel centered.

If you was loading you, I would go 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2. That would take up 32'. If the product is stable enough for single file then 2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2 which would take you to 42'.
