They will if all of a sudden they are standing before the court with a very serious offence staring at them. But that could be too late but then. However, they'll have plenty of time to read and learn.

So now you've corrected what you posted in your first post. If a driver just reads your first posting there's a good chance that driver will get a ticket. Just about every tire I've seen rates right under for tire allowable on the steers. If you would have said CA allows you up to 12500lbs and your steer tires rate up to that amount then you're good to go. That would have been proper and in no way could you be blame for bad information. I'm not trying to insult any postings just trying to show these new drivers need more help and we are the ones that should give it.

We all know that the main reason a CDL school is there is so that school can get your CDL as fast as possible. They do not want to teach any driving skills or defensive driving because that takes too long. Then when the driver gets to the first job, they find out the company is only going to show you the paperwork because most of the time at these mega carriers their driver trainer has only been on the road for 6 months. Is that scary or what.

Please, these new drivers need our help for sure but give them all the information when it's critical. State the correct information then give the reference to prove it. You drivers know from experience that there are inspecting officers that need to learn also. But the end results do not have the impact to them as it does to the driver. So the federal government at the FMCSA wrote almost all the rules and regulations and the other manuals like the CFR 49 Transportation parts 100 to 199 tell the driver where the rules came from. If there's other publications that pertain to use reference them also. Be exact like you're showing the judge.

Sorry but for you guys who are thinking that there is a 20k limit on the steers, you are really wrong.

The limit is posted on sticker on the truck, it is the limit that is the only limit you need to concern yourselves with. Most trucks on the road have a 12k front axle rating, some have 13k and some have 18k and not one of them would be legally loaded if it is over those rated limits as stated on the sticker.

As for helping, that's great thing to do but because it is the drivers sole responsibility when they are in the drivers seat, it is clear that they need to do more to get that cdl, maybe another reason why I keep saying cdl is too easy to get and needs to be harder to get.

I didn't see this mentioned but something to keep in mind as it is easy to over look it. Remember that fuel has a whieght. I scaled in Porter IN at the truck stop and was legal. Didn't think anything about it and topped off tanks and headed to Port Huron, MI. I got pulled into Indiana scale and was informed I was over whieght on drives. I was confused and explained how I had scaled only 2 hours earlier. The officer asked if I had fueled up and that's when it hit me. The officer was nice enough to let me move my fifth wheel and re scale and let me go but something to remember.

    Me either.

It looks like somehow only one axle of the trailer tandem was weighed, as if the front one was sitting directly on the gap between the individua platforms.

There has to be something wrong with the trailer for the 2 trailer axles to have such differant weights

That's true. You'll see that with such things as cement mixers, dump trucks, and cranes. But the only way I can see a tractor approaching that is with a permit load.

I would imagine it's required once your front end exceeds 20k.

Back in my heavy haul days I worked for a company that had a 50 ton wrecker with a tandem steer. He had that truck custom built, and likely specced the tandem steer as a matter of CYA.
