This is an example of North Dakota. It is what most crude haulers go by if they are licensed to run 105,500 in a tractor and single trailer.

A 6 ton road is 80,000 pounds. You still need to have all eight of your axles down to run it. On an 8 ton road you can run 105,500 but you need all of your axles down. There are fewer 8 ton roads during the Frost Law. There are around 130 barrels in 80,000 lbs depending on the density. There is around 240 barrels in 105,500 lbs depending on the density.

Western Canada secondary roads are usually restricted by percentage (70% of legal axle weight seems to be a common one where I grew up).

The Canadian is already using percentages on us. Wait until he goes metric on our bottoms.

Ya know, I have MORE THAN THE UTMOST RESPECT for you young'guns. Thats not a dis, by any means. If i had the opportunities to do what Y'ALL do in my day, I may have. The phone companies that I went to school for and made money etc etc etc.... all collapsed when cellular took over, and the primary contacts are overseas. I made $23 an hour as a switch-man... nobody even KNOWS WHAT that is anymore! So, here I am, with so many of you younger by half that know and do so much more. I'm not complaining, i'm complimenting.
Kudos, guys... wish i would've got the heavyhaul / os od earlier in my career.... just didn't work that way. I have more than respect, especially knowing that you are young and learning every minute.
@Dye Guardian thanks for that repost. I had to show that to the kids. Y'all amaze me. . . Tankers are nothing compared to what y'all do.
@NorthernMechanic I really thought by your wisdom as well as ^^ you were maybe 30 plus?? You and Dye sure got me there. Don't ever hire me for a street fair to guess someone's age, Lol~
