it will change it a little but not really noticeable for what you are trying to do. Anytime you move a pivot point for weight re-distribution you will change the weights over all axles but most will be shifted at the 2 closest points to where it is being shifted.
Pmracing, Mrh2008, CAXPT and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm also kinda wondering why you don't move the tandems. Just because the the CA law is 40ft does not mean they have to be exactly 40ft?
-
I thought 40' meant 40' or less... Not "close to 40', or less." am I wrong?Pmracing Thanks this.

I've been 1 inch long and 20 lbs over on the tandems before, as close to legal as I could be without reloading. I hoped they wouldn't be THAT picky... Didn't have any problems, but I could see some stickler giving me grief...
-
I'd drive 1 inch long and 20 over, but I'm 1220 over. I'd have to be close to 2' long to get weights right.
-
You're not wrong. For CA and 53's: 40 feet from the KP to the center of the rear axle OR LESS. Not one hole more ($$$!!). Not "exactly 40 feet." Forty feet is the maximum allowable setting for CA. Basic stuff if you run 53s into CA. Check your atlas or your carrier's KP-setting handouts for various state settings.
35,220 on the tandems and 28,XXX on the drives!
Yeah, they'll need to reload; been there, done that. They're not usually too happy about it, so just explain. They may simply not know.
-
The question seemed to me to imply that the driver thought the setting had to be exactly 40ft which is not the case. Thats what I was getting at. Thanks for the clarification.ac120 Thanks this.

I was under the impression that you thought I should move my tandems back a bit further. I'm at 40' with 35220 on the tandems. My bad.
