Sadly, I often see drivers who should be diagnosed with morbid obesity.... does the weight of the driver(s) get placed over the steer axle? If that weight puts them over the limit, what happens?

If truck stops (loves, pfj, ta/petro) were to partner with a network of health club operators and develop a 48 state system where they build and operate facilities on or adjacent to truck stops, would you be interested in hearing more about it?

I'm over 50 and pretty much local, but wife is going OTR sometime this year, as the kids are growing up.... 13 and almost 17....
so.. yes. Interesting for sure. We are pretty fit for "older" parents, and she worries about not dragging the dang yoga ball or treadmill with her, LoL~

You think the dangerously overweight drivers don't know to eat less & exercise more? Maybe nobody ever suggested that. They are huge because they have given up & found an excuse. This job will push you toward weight gain but you have to look out for your self, nobody else will. the second time you buy larger clothes you are no longer innocent.

Several years back a company- I don't remember the name- put fitness centers at several truckstops. I think most were on I40. I know the Petros in Knoxville, Tn and West Memphis had them. But they didn't get enough business and went under. Maybe it would fly now. Maybe not.

Bad concept is my gut reaction. However, apply the same concept to a healthy food bar, or maybe a womanned electronics kiosk (phones, gps, cameras, etc.), or Starbucks and I'm happy in my gut.

A weight room that is not well maintained is not an appealing place to be.... but a full service fitness center? Especially if your doctor tells you that being overweight puts so much at risk, including employment.

I am wondering if anyone knows anyone who was put out of service because his weight put him over limit on his steer axle....there would not be any other explanation for a significant weight increase that far forward, would there?

I am also wondering if any carriers have done anything about drivers with these kinds of issues
