I'm not an expert there. But if they are going to lower weights like that they really need to consider a detour, especially if there are warehouses or truck stops nearby.

I did one pick up at a warehouse somewhere, I can't remember where -- Indiana or Kentucky, I think. Well there were two ways to get into the area that had the warehouse. One was through a neighborhood which had a "No Truck" sign newly put up, and the other was over a weight restricted bridge. On my dispatch it said, "DO NOT drive through the neighborhood; you will be cited."

So, that left one option -- over the poor, crumbling little bridge. I knew it, but the locals are apparently mystified. People should know their areas at least better than any out of towner. LOL

That bridge should have been built to handle 40 tons. It just ain't right. There needs to be a law. We need more laws.

    No one here is bragging.
If you’re one of the guys that gets to stay on main highways and interstates 90% of the time you don’t know what we’re getting at.

    Respect to ya then!
Mine would as well, but only cause there’s often times 0 other solutions.
I messed up and argued “I can take x road and x it will take longer but no bridge”……but no I couldn’t, so I got to back down three miles of two lane county highway because I didn’t listen to the old timer.

that’s the last time I hope I ever make that mistake.

But they should be. With all the money that’s taken for infrastructure it seems very little trickles down into the repairs needed.

why would we instead of fixing or building a new bridge on a main freight route, just throw down some new asphalt?
    Arkansas is back-as-words sometimes.

atleast mo is trying to fix their bridges this year lol. (Probably because several old county bridges collapsed/were near collapse)

I don't even know what the heck that means....
You drive more back roads so you know more than the structural engineers?
That's about as stupid as stupid gets.

I can't count the number of 5 ton culvert bridges I've been across at 80k in south Georgia cucumber country. Nothing would get picked in that area if you couldn't get a truck in there to get them.

What we really need is a law that says if there isn't a law, then a new law needs to be created.

Ok buddy I’m sure all the farms and small industrial businesses down there can just stop existing because someone wrote a lower weight restriction on the sign.
    Go troll someone else’s post.

No, someone needs to pony up to fix the problem.

I can guarantee you this, if you're the one that ignores the restriction and breaks that bridge it will be you, the 'captain of your ship' that's liable.
