No because i weigh every load if its over 40 k . That 12$ is way cheaper then a 1000$ overweight ticket .

In the state of Idaho, you can be jailed for overweight violations. I have never known this to happen, but I have read the statute in Idaho laws.

5000lbs over in ND, $1200 fine paid on the spot.

Charged it back to the customer so I'm not to mad.

Do you have gauges on the trailer and tractor?

    If so
I would learn where the needle needs to be to scale correctly
Once you get that figure out. If you have them you shouldn’t need to scale as often unless all you can haul is 40k?

Other than maybe 4x I have never scaled in the past 15 years unless I bought a new truck or trailer
Once I have my empty weight I just watch my gauges

Now, I do pull a flatbed with sliding rear so it might be a little easier to be correct and not many times in that same 15 years have I been 80k, close but just not so much it’s a concern
I just make sure I’m good on drives and rears
