Not weird but unusual. I delivered onions a few times to an Amish farm in PA. I think they peeled and sliced them for delivery to a pizza chain. Really enjoyed how pretty and peaceful it was.

Took a pallet of cased beef to a farm in PA once... the ol' guy wanted it out back by the barn. We were both looking around on the way in, thinking we were totally lost - this can't be right! Used a pallet jack and a front end loader to get it off.

Cheese to Carthage caves - not bad at all and Schreiber folks are real nice. Jet engine sealed in a container inside a dry van to Ridgecrest, CA. Candy bars to LA county jail, driver and prisoner unload - they were nice and happy to see me with the candy. Commisary load to womans prison in Grants, NM - those girls were way scarier than the homeboys at LA County. Several loads from farms in the middle of nowhere. I kind of like the odd ball loads once in a while - breaks the monotony of Wal Mart and other warehouse loads.

I've delivered into a couple of caves in western MO. Hard to maneuver...and your tandems have to be all the way forward. The rock walls are scraped everywhere from other drivers hitting the side. Backing into a dock is difficult because there are leftover columns of rock which hold up the ceiling. Some drivers are intimidated and refuse to deliver into caves. The thing that surprised me the most was how big they can be. I almost got lost in one. Deep inside, I had to take a fork in the road and wasn't sure which way to go. I was looking for a dock number somewhere in the hundreds... and there was no cell phone signal.

I just delivered to the caves recently. It was my first time there. Lady at the place told me "You can try to get into dock 9 or you can wait for the guy in dock 8 to get done and take that one, but it won't be for an hour or so." Looked at the room I had and blindsided it into dock 9.

I worked in the Carthage, MO caves for ConAgra for a few months back in the mid 90's when I first moved to this area. The Roehl picture above pretty much sums up how much clearance trucks have when backing in.

I enjoyed the job for the first month thinking how "neat" it was working in a cave... then it quickly got stale and dreary. Eventually the company started demanding 6 day weeks at 16 hours per. Didn't stay long after that.

i hauled a couple of loads of concrete that had to be cooled to a certain temp by adding blocks of ice to the load

i hauled a load of sound equipment to the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, pulled the 26ft box truck through the bomb scanner then the searched the truck inside, outside and underneath---had to go back a couple of days later to pick it back up

i also had the same truck literally on the sand of North Avenue Beach in Chicago, big charity beach party that the city allows drinking on the beach for 1 day only.
load in was cool usally a bunch of joggers and people setting up for the party.
The load out is very interesting usally with and abundance of drunk vollyball players
