Ticketed for having sand on the outriggers of a boom truck. It was about 1/8 inch deep, on a 4 inch diameter plate with a 1 inch lip. Also received a ticket for a frayed strap, strap was rolled up and not being used at the time.

I saw the inspection report....
One of our drivers got popped at the new TN scales on 65 last week for having plastic valve stem covers instead of metal and also the retaining strap holding the fire extinguisher was unbuckled.

was following a empty flatbed(doubles) that hauls sod going thru the san onofre scales ,off i-5 south, and over the speaker, scalemaster told driver to pull over and sweep out excess dirt off trailer. i don,t know if driver got cited or not since i just kept on trucking thru

I got popped for a loose spare tire. You couldn't have stuck a stir stick in between the tire and the frame. It wasnt loose! But, since he could make it wiggle when he jumped up and down on it, I got the ticket. I think the guy was ticked off because everything else was perfect, and he just had to find something to write me up for.
About a week ago I got wrote up for a (in the cops words) "slight hiss from brake chamber. brakes applied". Took it to TA to have them find this magical slight hiss. None of the mechanics could find it. Of course if I hadnt pulled in there with a head light out I would have probably never been pulled into the barn. Funny how that works, huh...BeN DaViS Thanks this. -
Here's one from the attitude files....... one of ours got stopped for lights out, all of them but it was still daylight. Got out of the truck and brought his attitude with him......seems the pigtail jumped out.....
Deputy dawg cited him once for each light on the trailer........ 18 citations, no sheet. -
Driver had a red flag hanging on load that was 12 inches wide and overhang of 2 feet. Trooper pulled out ruler and measured the basket. Ticket for not having two flags on each end because it was over 12 inches across.
Also had a O/O let go because of his CSA score ... -
Headlight out, was it daytime? Mine are off as soon as the clock says it's daytime. About 2 weeks ago, I had one burn out, 5 mins after starting for the day. I had just done a quickie PTI (we do short Pre-trips, as we're suppose to do the Post-Trip), and it was working then. As soon as it was officially sunrise, I shut them off. Thankfully the route had no scales, and very few if any bears or county-mounties.
I'd get dinged for the DOT tape on the rear of my trailer. It's faded badly, and just in bad condition. However the shop will not replace it. Says it's too much of PITA getting the old tape off. I guess when I get wrote up, I'll take the ticket back and serve it to them with some hot sauce!! -

My Dad got wrote up for a "leaky hogs head" at the scale in Henderson KY on US 41 back in the 90's.
Dad asked what it was and the cop said "You know... a hogs head." He wouldn't give any more information than that.
Thought he was pulling my leg until I saw the paperwork. All we could think of was the differential and we never did find a leak.
He got stopped again the next day by a DOT cop in Carlisle, Indiana. He didn't know what a "hogs head" was either.Last edited: Jul 6, 2012
