Your not pushed/forced to run illegal. If u chose to that's ur choice, if u screw up the safety department will let u know. I run what needs to be run in order to be on time. Its trucking.
If I pull a true month out here I take 5 days off, never had anyone complain. Not long after I 1st started my infant son needed surgery and I took extra days, no one even batted an eye at it. They are great about it, like I said no ones ever complained. When I get home I send a message and say when I will be ready to come back out and that's the end of it. I usually get a preplan a day or so before I am ready to leave. They will call to make sure I see it.
As far as pay goes, I have never broken it down to my weekly average. We know that the week I leave out and come home my checks will not be as good. But the time in between I will make great money. You either turn in your trip envelope at one of our terminals or you Fed Ex it by Friday afternoon. I have only used Fed Ex once. I'll just bank the loads onto the next check. Granted my check isn't as much but its on the next check so its a wash. I make enough that we aren't hurting and going week to week. My wife doesn't work due to my sons health issues and we still live comfortably thanks to WEL.

Hey higgie do they use elogs for everybody now? What kind of trucks do they have, I know it really doesn't matter just wondring. Do they run all 48?
-
E-logs are in use, I don't know the details I'm still on paper. Yes we run all 48, I've hit them all in the last 2yrs.
Pete's and KW's mainly, a few Internationals and Freightliners mixed in.MD STEELERS FAN Thanks this. -
I'm getting ready to go to school. Just trying to figure out all my options. Appreciate the feed back. Talked to a driver in Aberdeen Md at a C&S Warehouse last week, said he thinks they hire out of MD. He said he's getting really good miles. Are you still happy there?

Yeah I love it here. Only reason I will ever leave is if a great local job becomes available.
I won't lie and say everything is perfect but the good is far better than the bad. Only time I get irritated is with some of the time frames on my preplans. I'm annoyed for a minute then I see it as a challenge and its all good. -

Hey thanks again. Trying to figure out whats best for the family. are you per diem? if so how much is it?
-
Your 2011 is a Pete or KW? Do they allow inverters?
-
Of the top of my head I can't recall how per diem works. The recruiters can tell u more.
I have a KW, u know its the same as a Pete just different badges. U can have an inverter. They will install it for you. -
