I went and bought me a project. It is a 2000 Pete 379 with a 3406E and 18 speed with 3.55 rears. Gonna need some work but Im gonna build it how I want it. Definitely removing the motor in favor of a 6nz and possibly swapping in 3.90 gears. Thinking of stripping it to the frame and blasting and powder coating and then repainting the truck. Gonna lay wood floor and I dont know what else..... Its going to be a work in progress. The pics arent great, I will get better ones once I get it home. Also has the American Class interior.

What are you gonna do with the E? Hope you got that thing cheap, looks like it needs a lot of work.

Be lots of work but nice when it's done. Personally I'd keep the 3406E but I'm not a big Cat guy so don't take my word.

That E is probably a 2ws and if that's the case no Elogs and would make that truck more desirable. Besides that 2ws is just as good if not "debatable" better then a 6nz

I am assuming it is a 2ws, and that isnt set in stone yet but I have had both and the 6nz imo was a better motor with significantly less oil leaks lol...

There's fewer pieces to a 6nz isn't there? If you were closer to where I live I'd be interested in the motor.

Not really, just machined a little better, better gaskets and the 6NZ has straight teeth vs helical on gears

That's not too bad. I think there are possibilites.

Keep a eye between that sleeper and cab. Seal etc.
