It really makes no difference what country it is, the politicians are the ones who are all for themselves, and screw everything up.

I cross often and have had a few thorough searches over the years. The most recent was 5 or 6 months ago at Lansdowne. Any time I've gone for secondary, either side of the border, they have always been polite and professional. When I get back to the truck there's usually a couple foot prints on the floor and maybe something out of place but for the most part you'd hardly know they had searched through the truck.

What you describe is unacceptable IMO. I've heard similar stories but always figured people were exaggerating.

I don't know what exactly they are allowed as far as trashing your truck goes but the disrespect they showed you is not allowed. Sit, don't stand. No, you can't pee. Unbelievable.

I think I almost gave one Canadian border guard a heart attack a few years back. Was going up on a fishing trip with a bunch of guys. The whole truck box was full of gear and duffle bags. We got pulled into inspection, and one officer jumped in back and was tossing everything on the ground and the other was digging through it. When my bag hit the ground at his feet my screaming meanie alarm clock went off. The guys hand went to his gun and he tried to back up but he tripped backwards over the bench. Down he went. We still laugh about that.

I feel bad that you had to go thru something like that. The manner in which it was done is totally unacceptable in every sense of the word. I can only imagine how you must feel.

 

That was back when our country tried to mind it's own business and stay neutral. We didn't get to, and the world whines that we don't stay neutral now. The USA just can't win. We are wrong for trying to stay out of it, wrong for getting involved, and we are always expected to send our money everywhere to help people who know nothing about us but hate us anyway.
